Last time I buy Winchester brass

A nice piece of the neck of the brass where it looks as if it didn't form properly. Doesn't give the best feeling about the quality of the rest of the brass...

I had a whole bag of Winchester brass for 7mag that I fired once.... not one primer pocket was useable again. Hornady brass is on its 3rd firing, same load. Called Winchester and they DID make it right so that Is all I can ask for as a customer.

Just one peice that looked that bad, many others with dents or dings on the body. And because it's a loose bag all the necks were misformed as expected

I quit buying Winchester 12 guage ammo a few years ago because a similar problem. I have a Remington 870 and after just about every shot, the shell would not eject. Iv'e never had that problem with any other ammunition.

I had a bag of new 264 Win Mag brass that had three pieces with deformed necks like you have. When I ran them through a resizing die they split at the neck. When I contacted Winchester they wanted me to send the three pieces of brass back and they would reimburse me for those pieces. I had already uploaded digital images to their website, and I wasn't interested in jumping through their customer service hoops for a $3.00 check.

Sample size of one here, but when I started reloading last year I bought a bag of Winchester 7mm Rem Mag brass. I did load and fire about 20 rounds of it, but it's been sitting unused ever since. I weight sorted the cases and they were all over the place (didn't keep the numbers, but they were BAD). In the weight sorting process, I threw out three or four pieces that came from the factory with split necks. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed and won't be going back for a second try.
My Tikka gets fed Hornady brass (I can buy it on the shelves locally) and I'm happy with it. Some of my Hornady brass is on its 6th firing and I haven't worn out a case yet.

It’s cheap for a reason. You gotta plan on culling a decent amount of it out when you buy Win brass. It’s not going to come out of the bag looking like Lapua. But once it’s sorted it’s normally pretty tough stuff.

Good brass for the price. They produce millions of cases a year, a few will slip through. You can find that with every major manufacturer within the same price range.

I follow Sam Milliard’s (Panhandle Precision) recommendation of +/- 1% of average. So far I’ve found Hornady, Starline, Nosler reloading brass and several factory-loaded headstamps that live up to that standard. Winchester brass and factory-loaded Nosler did not. The once-fired factory-loaded Nosler brass had worse weight variation than Winchester.

I had a bag of .270WIN Winchester Brass, brand new and found that almost 10% of them were unusable. I only buy Hornady brass now.
