This archery elk season will be mine and my sons first. After much research we ended up with a compromise on our packs but based upon my weighted cardio and Mystery Ranches & Kifarus reputations I am thinking it is probably not a huge compromise. I couldn't justify spending 7-800 for new packs for each of us so after many questions and reviews read I bought for each of us the MR Glacier 70 liter packs and added the Kifaru Grabit to carry our bows and hopefully some game bags loaded with elk meat. By doing this I was able to buy packs that are rated to 90 lbs and saved about $250 from buying a roughly same size Metcalf and significantly more from a Kifaru. While I would have loved to jump right into the kifaru gearing up for two from nothing was just not in the budget. Can't wait for August 25th!

There ya go! Hey, top tier equipment is a luxury and not a requirement or a necessity. People were successful and enjoying themselves, making hunting memories in the back country, long before MR or Kifaru were even dreamed of. It’s that experience with your son that’s important - everything else is superficial. Your attitude is way more important than your gear. One of those is easy to upgrade but the other is definitely not! Lol! Enjoy yourselves and congrats on getting something that’ll work for Y’ALL!
