La-z-Boy worth it?

Is La-Z-Boy what recliner dreams are made of?

I hope they're what dreams are made of. Ordered ours 7 months ago, suppose to be here end of February.

I always find it amazing just how perceptions and preferences so wildly differ on just about everything in this world. Just looked up those Ekornes/Stressless chairs......
I'm going to see if I can track some down today.

Got a little bummed yesterday evening. I called the LaZBoy store to ask the girl how if we bought the clearance one she could get her commission since she didn't work weekends. This kind of killed the dream...she said that if we bought the clearance piece from the show room, we had to leave it there until the summer when a replacement piece came. I had wrongly assumed that we would head home with it when we bought it.

I stopped by the furniture store where we bought ours just to get an update on delivery. Lazboy is now 12-16 months out on a new order and I can't remember name of of one of the furniture makers, but there out 24 months.

That seems to fall in line with what we were told. Some models were 8 months, some she told us were over a year. That's why I was pretty excited about the one with a clearance tag on it in the showroom. Wrong-ish color but was comfy as can be.

I just bought a new recliner a few weeks ago. We went straight to the La-Z-Boy store in S. Austin (as much as I hate going into Austin) and looked at 15 or so models. Of course, the salesperson had to give us their pitch as to why $2k on a recliner was a "good investment." yada, yada, yada. Well, I couldn't bring myself to pay that kind of money for a recliner, especially since my last one did just fine for 17 years and cost me about $500 at the time.

So we shopped around and ended up at a clearance overstock store not far from the La-Z-boy store. They had new recliners from 4-5 different brands. I ended up getting a Lane recliner that is actually big enough for me (I'm 6'4"), with a heated massage feature, for $330 out the door. It was still in the plastic.

If you're not in a hurry, I'd say shop around and try all you can. I didn't care for some of the features of the La-Z-boys that they were charging more $ for. In fact, I walked out of their store and swore I'd never go back in one again.

I wish you luck!

I am a big L-B fan. I will say we have never bought a brand new one though. We have had 3 hand me down recliners and bought a used sectional from friends. I feel they are better built and last longer than other brands.

I have just slept in mine for 7 weeks straight due to rotator cuff surgery, we got it the day of the surgery and I have slept great. Overall really good quality and comfortable.
I was in the same boat. Even before surgery, which was an open surgery, I had to sleep in my Lap-z-boy just to get any sleep at all. Yes they are worth it IMO.

I can't decide how to vote, since I had a La-Z-Boy for 5-6 years, and sold it last summer.

I liked it, was comfortable, just got tired of the racket it made.

I bought a larger recliner. 6'01", 220 with very broad shoulders. Not cheap but very comfortable. Had it for 6 years and still looks new. I lay a tanned Mule deer hide behind my bald head when I nap. Very comfy. Room for two if the wife gets frisky.

Not on my recliner. That's what the dining room table is for. NSFW

Things just happen. You don't have a first aid kit for immediate need. Beyond just feel good, the lazyboy recliner has been a life saver. Broken ribs, hip replacements, for various reasons a bed is just not an option for a while. The lazy boy meant I could get some sleep under those adverse situations.

I don't know about current production, but I had a sofa, love seat and 2 recliners that my grandmother bought in the 80s. I used it up until my divorce in 2017. It didn't give any issues, I hated it because it was white. I let the ex have it and as far as I know she's still using it according to the step daughter.

Look at Ekornes/Stressless chairs. Super comfortably and a hell of a lot nicer to look at than a La-z-boy. I think mine is a Consul model.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder on those I guess
