La Sportiva Aequilibrium Trek & Hike — Anyone Used Them?

Sounds good. Gohunt is the one that says an 11.5 equates to a 45/45.5 but the Lasportiva site says a 45.5 is actually a 12. Other sites say a 12 is a 46 hahahaha. Never had so much trouble getting a proper size.

11.5 in Salomon’s which fit great but I wouldn’t want them even a mm longer. Size charts say a 28.5cm is 45/45.5. They can’t be the same or they wouldn’t offer both hahaha.

FWIW, in Salomon's Quest boots, a size 10 (EU 43) works well for me (maybe just a hair longer than would be perfect). The size 9.5 (EU 42.5) in the Aeq Hike is definitely too short for me, to a greater degree than I would expect from a half-size difference. So I think a 12 (EU 45.5) would be the safest bet to try on in your case.

As for that size chart suggesting two sizes for the same foot length, the chart is probably for ski boots. For those, the shell of the boot is the same length for a 45 and 45.5, 42 and 42.5, etc.

Verified you are absolutely correct - hikes run small, they are being returned 43’s ordered. Treks arrive tomorrow.

I have finally found my correct size in th Lasportiva Prodigio Hike and the Prodigio Max. These are both shoes not boots and they have been known to run small but my god, I had to go way up. Normal shoe/boot is 11.5 in Salomon’s. That’s a EU size 45. I finally ended up with 46.5 EU. The Trek boots say they run truer to size and I was going to go with a 45.5 but GoHunt only had them in 46 and I have to start somewhere. Will update when they come in.

Just posted my EU46/US12.5s in the classifieds. I think they fit closer to 12s, I’m sizing up.

For what it’s worth. La Sportiva says 46.5=US12.5+ then a 47=US13

Update: got the Aeq Trek in a 43, 1/2 size bigger than my Aeq Hike.

Going up a half size from my usual size was definitely the right call. I now have minimal issues with my toes banging the front of the boot on steep downhills.

One surprise was how much my heels hurt after the first day hunting in the Treks. I didn't experience the same thing in the Hikes, but my outings in those weren't as long or in as challenging terrain (very steep and/or very off-camber sidehilling). My only guess is that it's because I'm used to footwear with pretty low heel-to-toe drops. In my lower-drop boots, my forefeet are sore at the end of the day, so maybe it's just an inherent tradeoff for my feet. Hoping that it goes away as I spend more time in the boots and my feet get used to them. Otherwise, big fan so far.

Got my pair of 46.5 Aeq Treks. Have about 80 miles on them, most recently a single big hike on the deer opener in Idaho. Very steep off trail hiking. Shale and rock in some areas. Noticed the tongue seam is already failing. Contacted LS to start a warranty claim. These boots fit my foot really well, but I fear durability might not be there for mountain hunters.

Have the same concern. Ones I got the sizing sorted out, I ended up with a pair of both the hikes and the treks. Really like them both for different applications. Have 40-50 miles on the hikes, 90-100 on treks. The stitching on the lace loops breaks and starts coming undone. I would put epoxy or something similar over this threading right after verifying the boots fit properly. I didn’t have any on my hunt so it wasn’t an option.

I’ve got both and they fit my feet well. Aequilibriums are a bit more normal width than la sportiva lasts on older pairs. Do agree to add a 0.5 cm more than you think.

I have Aequilibrium ST, LT, and Hike, all are fantastic. As mentioned, hike hasn’t been super durable but unless you’re in tons of scree and loose rock (aka chukar hunting) all the time you’re fine. Best boots I’ve found.

So GoHunt had the Aeq Treks on sale during their Black Friday sale. I had the 11.5 (45 Euro) in my cart, and right before I checked out I put a pair of 12's (45.5) in my cart....after a week long USPS delay I finally got them in....

I'm glad I added the 45.5's to my cart, as the 45's are just a hair to small...not in the length but in the instep and toebox volume. The 45.5's seem to fit just right (a hair wider and a bit more toebox volume). Funny thing is, both the 45 and 45.5 use the exact same size insole (the Sportiva supplied insole has 45 stamped on the bottom of both of them), and from what I can tell the footbed and the sole on both is the exact same length. The only difference I can find is the end of the toe box on the 45.5's is just a bit more 'bulbous' if that makes sense. But when I put the insoles in and reach to the front of the toe box the insole comes to the exact same spot on both of them. Also, the Vibram outsole is the exact same length (lugs line up exact on both boots), and the lace lugs/loops line up exactly in the same spot on both. I'll try to post some pics later.

They did accept it as a warranty item. Unfortunately they didn’t have that size and they issued me a refund instead.
