Got an email showing their waders with a front zip coming soon. Guess they learned their lesson to not release new waders without a front zip. Guessing sales were not great on the no zip ones.

For my next pair of waders I think I’m rolling with the Simms Freestone Z Bootfoot waders. Other than some camo and maybe a feature or two, both pairs of waders appear to feature the same boots and same 4 layer Toray fabrics. For the cost difference between the two, the Simms seem like the way to go.

I have a pair of Simms G3 stocking foot waders that have been very durable (I’ve only been looking to add because my feet get too cold in the stockingfoots when the temps drop) . I’ll have a hard time not sticking with a Simms produced product moving forward.

I second this recommendation big time, I've run a ton of different waders over the years and these are probably the best for waterfowl I've owned. No experience with sitka or kuiu waders other than friends that have them but cant see the increased price being justified other than the name. Camo on waders doesn't matter, used to kill a lot of ducks in simms stockingfoot all grey waders.

Pretty sure these are the same wader with a couple of features added as Simms makes the kuiu waders.

They used to make the freestones with gore-Tex fabric. That didn’t fall in like with their gore-Tex=pricier and toray=cheaper pricing structure so they switched. A year or two ago they had them on sale for half price (I’m guessing to make room for the new Toray ones). I passed because I had a brand new pair of banded waders. They leaked after a few hunts and I still kick myself for not buying the simms.

I was a sceptic on the Sitka waders at first…. But they are one of the best waterfowl purchases I made. I was able to find them on sale for around $700 new so they were easier to justify. They are very comfortable and the front zipper is great, it makes everything easier. In my opinion, best part that no one talks about are the boots and how much easier they allow you to walk in a soft bottom. They provide a lot of flotation due to how wide they are. My dad and I hunt together and he has lacrosse waders. We are similar size and weight. I am able to walk much easier when the bottom is soft,

I digress… but if interested in the kuiu waders, check if the boots are as wide as the Sitka ones.
