New to site and new to bivey hunting. Just booked 2020 archery elk hunt. Been doing a bunch of research on packs and am leaning towards exo 6400 or kuiu 6000. What are ur thoughts?

There is/was a really good deal on an EXO 6k in the classifieds section. Exo= made in USA. I'd buy that before the Kuiu.

I like Kuiu and especially the new Pro suspension. For normal heavy loads, 60lbs or so, it works really well. Haven’t carried anything heavier because it’s not fun and would rather do two loads. Granted I am not 10 miles back but for most hunters I feel it’s a great pack and priced very well.

My Kuiu just sits on a shelf unless I loan it to my kid when he visits to hunt. Not even in the same league as my Exo K2.

I have had a Kuiu Icon Pro since they came out and I 'think' I have been very happy with it. I have hauled out 3 whole deer bone in and hauled out elk quarters, which sucked, but my pack seemed to work fine.
Can you guys that prefer the Exo over the Kuiu provide details / specifics on why? I am really interested in this because I read this all over this site, so I am not doubting, just wanting to get some info.

Thanks

I have had both Kuiu and EXO. I sold the Kuiu and still have the EXO. It wasn't even close on the comfort level hauling loads above 40lbs. EXO, for me, is worth the extra money by far.

The biggest difference that I noticed was the way the Exo snugged the load up against my back and minimized it from moving it around. The way the frame is designed keeps the load from moving around causing balance issues. Just a more well thought out design. The difference of just being able to do something and doing something better and more easily.

Kuiu makes good clothes but I would suggest that you don't get the Kuiu pack.

I thought the new Pro was great this year...

Very nice bull ChrisAU. I thought the Kuiu was a good pack when I had one too. But, that was after I used the Dwight Schuh/Cabela's pack for a few years. And it was before I tried other packs. After the Kuiu I tried a couple of others and it became obvious that the Kuiu pack was just part of the learning curve for me. Comparing Kuiu packs to Exo/Stone Glacier/Kifaru is like comparing Bushnell binos to Swaros. They're good enough until you use others.

I don't think that's true, I think different packs fit different people. I packed a bull out last year with a Kifaru, and used the Kuiu Pro this year. I do want to try to an Exo some time though. I wish I could have them all and hunt enough to effectively compare them all apples to apples with heavy loads. Maybe one day ha.

Very few on here have anything good to say about the KUIU packs. Especially the older model.
I have to wonder though, how many keep beating KUIU down but have NOT tried their new model.

I have never used either KUIU or EXO. But I had a buddy that had one of both. The KUIU was the older icon model and the EXO was the older K2 model. But I "can" say this, it was night and day difference just trying on the bare/empty pack. The EXO felt way better. Hell, even my buddy had never even taken the tags off of the KUIU. We sold it here on the classifieds just a few months ago.

There is no doubt that different packs fit different people. There's somebody that prefers Bushnell binos over Swaro too.
