Need some advice, hate buying things without being able to try on. I'm 6'1 190 and trying to decide sizing on Kuiu stuff.

Looking at getting their Merino base layers, the peleton and then the Chugach or Guide DCS ( or maybe both 😀)! Was thinking I'd get large in everything but the Chugach, XL in that.

Thoughts?

Is there value in having both the Chugach and Guide? Do folks ever later those two?

Maddening... Thanks for any help!

Oh and anyway to change my handle on here?

Why peloton and merino stuff for base? I would pick one or another. Depends on what your preference is.

I guess Merino for base and then I was thinking the peleton 240 full zip hoodie as a second layer?

I run the 240 over a merino 145 base all the time as is one of my favorite combos. I have yet to wear my guide jacket on a mountain hunt but do wear it in combination with (or without) a 240 for stand hunting. I wear a guide vest more than the jacket. Don't even bother packing the jacket any more. Keep in mind that their entire line is sized for layering. Might want to rethink sizing up on the Chugach. I wear a large in everything including the Chugach. However. I did go with a medium in the yukon jacket since it is sized for heavy layers underneath.

I have guide dcs and chugach. depends on weather conditions on how I layer but have used both on multiple occasions, rain, sleet, snow, windy type conditions. I am 6' 190# but wear xl on shirts, coats. Large on chugach pants.

I am 5-10, 180 pounds.
I wear Kuiu in large under my outer layer.
I have their Chinook soft shell and I have it in an XL.
I have their down under in a large.

I am 6'2" 240. Not a cross fit stud but I get into the gym and am a bit chesty. I run xxl in most tops and XL in bottoms for most brands.

I find kuiu runs small and it a bit inconsistent.

- A xxl guide jacket fit but had no room for layers. I upsized to xxxl and am swimming in it.
- Bottoms I need a 38 or 40 or a xxl
- baselayers I do a xxl top but it fits slim an of the 3-4 tops i have they all fit differently.

They have been pretty good about swapping sizes but I have incurred shipping costs. Apart from one set of alpine pants that weren't water resistant, I am pretty happy with their gear. The set of attacks I have is working it's way toward being my favorite set of hunting pants.

Ya, some like one or another for first layer. I usually run something similar. As far as sizing a large should be fine. You . might be between sizes.

You are taller but same weight as my brother in law. He wears a large base that fits comfortably close but not a compression fit. Xl in his teton insulated jacket. Arm length is long for him but he is 5-10.

I'm 6-2 165-170 wear medium but went large on the guide. Glad I did 1. I have a slightly long neck so the hood isn't too tight. 2. I can wear a medium teton puffy and a down vest under it.

Do you need a guide and chugach? Maybe in your closet but the guide is hard to justify packing depending on how far, how steep you are going.

I like poly (peloton) over wool better than wool on wool.

I am 6'1" 185 lbs and wear a large Chinook jacket. I had the medium and it fit great except in the arms. The large fits much better. I would never think of getting an xl.

It seems that personal preference plays a big role.

I'd like to get a Chinook and a Guide jacket, but how does the sizing compare to the sizing on the Sitka 90% jacket? If I were going to wear only a T-shirt or a base layer underneath, I'd have gone with a large, but I want to be able to wear a down midlayer, so I went with XL in the 90%. I'm 5'10 185 lb, but I have long arms. Without a mid layer the 90% is a little baggy in the torso, but it's not a problem.

Kuiu size chart lists a L which I wear as 43 chest and 35 sleeve. Having a 42 chest and 34 sleeve I would say it is pretty spot on. I have worn a merino 145, merino 210, peloton 240, down vest and down jacket under my guide jacket all at once and it didn't feel snug. If I try one more layer it begins to get snug in the arms. Hope this helps.

To all... Thanks so much for the replies. Now leaning toward the large based on everyone's feedback. What a great community of folks.
