I have mostly sitka gear but decided to swap a few pieces for kuiu. I recently purchased the chugach nx set, 145 merino top, attack pants, guide vest. I have the sitka traverse set, mountain pants, ascent pants, kelvin set, 90 percent jacket, core top. The patterns are verde and oc. I feel with the various combinations I have that I can hunt most seasons. I have been out west a few times chasing bear and turkeys and going after third season elk in Colorado and January coues deer in arizona with plans for moose if I ever get drawn ( can't take time for alaska right now limited pto). Anyone have personal experience with these pieces in actual environments and how they held up thanks

Been wearing the attack and 145 merino since kuiu started. Both are still going strong on original sets. The merino will tear in brush so it has some holes but still in use . The attacks will serve you for many years and are very comfortable. Have a second set of attacks and love the leg zips for climbs!

The Attack pants are perhaps the best hunting pants ever made from my perspective. They feet me great and have been very durable. I haven't been unhappy with the rest of the pieces, but I don't have the love for them that I do for the Attacks.

As others have mentioned, the Attack pants are amazing. To me, their merino is ok, i prefer other brands over the Kuiu. The traverse top that you have is probably my favorite top out there. With everything that you have between the two brands you should definitely be good to go.

Thanks for the replies so far. I bought the top more for turkeys and elk. I prefer the first lite merino but was not sold on pattern. Wish I had bought it though. Field and stream had them for 20 percent off the other day but already ordered the kuiu merino

I am very curious to hear about these kuiu items as well. I have some attack pants on the way so I'm really excited to hear how everyone likes them so much. I have all sitka and first lite right now. 4 years on my ascent pants and going strong. Absolutely love them. Also have the traverse and kelvin stuff too. Very happy with both. I will be trying out more Kuiu soon though so I hope to hear more stories!

I don't have ascents, so I can't compare them. I hunt in the Adirondacks of NY and typically late rifle season is cold, but I run attacks all season long. They're great for when I'm climbing damn near vertical ascents because they move with you. And when I feel the burn, the thighes zip open and dump a lot of excess heat and moisture. I can be comfortable in them from 10 - 60f by only changing base layers. Plus the DWR keeps the snow from soaking in when bush whacking - just brush it away.

They're not windproof and if you're sitting, I'd recommend something else. I can usually sit for an hour or 2 before I start feeling a chill.

For being on your feet all day, they're great pants.

I also hunt AZ in January. the attack pants are winners in the comfort department but I don't have high hopes in longevity. I took mine in for the first time last season. Hiking in them is pure pleasure. They are perfectly stretchy in key areas making those brutal climbs just a tad easier. BUT! They snag super easy. Mine now have a bunch of pulled material down the leg. You absolutely need to bring a pad to sit on or you will eff up the butt section.

My Sitka 90% jacket that I wear at the same time has zero burr pulls and the jacket is probably 8 years old and has done the same hunt every year. I love the attack pant, but I don't think they will outlast Sitka.

The chacuch stuff is great. I stay dry.

Does anyone carry a windbreaker if I already carry the chugach why would I need one. Am I missing something?

Everything snags and burrs in AZ. Every year I'm pulling thorns out of my legs and hands for about a month after the January rut hunt, but I keep going back for more.

Not sure exactly what you mean? Do you mean why would you wear both a Traverse and a Rain Jacket?

I ran the Traverse and the Chugach for several seasons. Always like the versatility having both brought. I now run the Dewpoint, but mainly due to how light it is. Nothing wrong with the Chugach. Sometimes I even add the new Sitka 90% jacket for an additional layer. KUIU Chinook would probably work the same.

I've built up my hunting clothing through the last 4 years comprised completely of Kuiu. I have some of the first attack pants and they are still going strong aside from a small barb wire tear. I use them, the guide vest and a Merino half zip from October til it gets below 45 here in Mt for all my hunting. Plus I always have the guide jacket for backup.

Attacks are great, Vest is good but can't access the chest pockets with a pack on, really couldn't with any vest though. The 145 top is great. Wore it way longer than I should have this fall and it never smelled funky. Other than a hat and an ICON pack, that is all I have at this point. Do want to pick up some more as I go.
