For anyone using this jacket - do you ever actually use the pit zips? I remember laughing when I saw those as an option on Giru, but am now considering the jacket.....Im not sure when I’d ever see the need to dump heat from a stationary down piece like that. Interested to hear what folks using it have found.

I have a mid-January hunt I’m considering it for, as well as general winter use. Was going to purchase a FL chamberlain as an alternative, but that’s over twice the jacket full wise, and I’m not sure it’ll see nearly as much use.

Thanks!

Have run this jacket for two November’s have yet to use zips as has only come on when stationary or very little movement not to say I won’t through the years to come but will be limited. Can say I like the jacket warm piece and exterior more durable than the super down

No, I've never used them. Completely pointless.

Pit zips on a down jacket are what you get when you let the "public" vote on clothing designs. Half of them have no idea what features should go where, but if it sounds cool...

When it was on giru I thought it might be useful for venting/drying a moist base layer. Dumping heat makes more sense for the kenai.
