which would you go with for middle of September wyoming elk hunt, the Rubicon or peloton 240? looking for a midlayer type piece to wear early morning and late afternoon when the temp drops, wanted to give kuiu a try this year.

Ive had the rubicon jacket for a few years now and really like it. I don't have the 240 but when trying to make this same decision the weight difference seemed negligible to me and I like how durable the rubicon is. Ive really beat the crap out of it and had zero issues. Its not the warmest jacket but it does block the wind well and doesn't absorb water if pushing through wet brush. It is also good for layering ( I wear a peloton 200 under it often if temps drop) and I think overall a more versatile piece than the 240.

Some guys love their Peloton 240's. I didn't find much use for it. It's not a very lofty fleece, and I found it to not be anywhere near as wind resistant as Kuiu claims it is. as a 'shell' type jacket, I'd guess the Rubicon is inherently warmer than the 240 because as a true soft-shell, I assume it blocks wind better than the 240.

I do have Kuiu pieces that I really like. The 240 just didn't have a spot in my system.
