Kuiu Rain Gear Comparison

Anyone use the northridge set? I realize this is the economy line but for backpacking trips that may see rare use, would this suffice?

I've had the Northridge rain jacket for 7 seasons now and it still looks new. I don't just use it for rain, I use it occasionally as a windbreaker and a rainjacket around town. It still looks brand new.

I only just added pants this year, the Chugas, before my August sheep hunt. They did great, and I can't believe I waited so long to upgrade the pants.
Regardless of brand/model, the zip-on/off feature is way better than trying to get elastic pant cuffs over boots.

I do have a Northridge jacket that I use mostly while camping with our travel trailer. Packs up well, and keeps me dry for short forays around camp. Biggest downside is it lacks pit zips, and if you were actively backpacking I would think those would be important.
My Northridge has pit zips...

This is the stuff I use on my beat up rain jackets for steelhead fishing, it has a smell but works pretty good, and makes raingear that will get you wet into rain gear that will keep you pretty dry

I would try nikwax first if you haven’t for hunting gear, they sell the sport wash and dwr as a combo pack (I just got some for my Yukon)

Dwr just doesn’t last long if you’re in the brush much, I will probably only have to do it once this year, but if I wore it elk hunting in Sept in the brush a lot, I would have to treat it again at the end of season.. wet brush messes up dwr pretty quick

Thanks man! I've been using the Granger wash/spray combo. Is the Nikwax better?

Nikwax has always been PFAS free, not sure on Granger. The original granger to me lasted much longer then nikwax, not sure if there is or isn’t a new formula, as one I have is 4 years old. It doesn’t say pfas free. Regardless I’d get the sport was from either and make sure you clean it real well first
