This place is Turning into douchebag central. Considering this forum has historically been gear focused , quality control has always been a germane topic especially in regards to the outdoor brands we use. If shoddy workmen-ship can’t be Discussed without people turning into fanboy asshats then what’s the point of if this place?

Trial, I respect you, but that’s a pretty dick comment.

My point I was trying to make was don’t judge kuiu based on a product they don’t produce! It’s not their peloton, or their merino, or down. It’s some bullshit hat. That’s like saying “Sitka is garbage - I got a t-shirt that has a slightly crooked screen printed logo”.

I’m my opinion it’s not fair to base the quality of a company’s product because of something they don’t even produce. I think that’s fair.

And if OP would call kuiu, I 100% promise you they would’ve made it right. They always have with me over anything I’ve ever talked to them about.

If he would’ve said, I ordered this new merino shirt and is was f*cked when I received it, then this post would be more than fair.

Think about what your saying and what what is the reason for kuiu to tsell over priced hats? They are putting their name on a product, and then having customers pay them to promote their company’s brand. They are making a profit and getting free promotion while they are at it.
If you think for a minute that they should get a pass for selling shoddy shit at premium prices, well I can’t agree with you.
The guy paid 30 bucks for freaking ball cap, at the very least it shouldn’t look like it some Walmart junk.

Again, something probably slipped through the cracks. It happens with EVERY company. Call them and get it squared away. Simple.

It was advertised as something it wasn't and that is a real problem, sorry you can't grasp as the entire concept of this thread.

I actually did.

I also said, call kuiu and they’ll make it right. And agreed that it was wrong of kuiu to do that.

No need to write a thread about it.

Worthless thread IMO, but the hat issue could have been due to availability. I order small quantities of wholesale blank hats, including the Richardson’s, and they have been showing out of stock recently.

I’m guessing there was a phone call that went something like:

”Hey, those hats you guys have been ordering have a 3 month lead time. You want to wait on them or us to substitute something similar?”

”They decent hats?”

”Yeah, they aren’t bad.”

”Sure, let’s go for it.”

They then did not update their website description as they have more important things going on right now, or consider it a temporary switch.

FWIW there are substantial quality differences in hats, so you aren’t wrong to be picky, but it’s a stretch to nitpick the company as a whole over it.

I had been worried that after Jason was no longer running things it would turn into a “let’s just slap our label on every cheaply made outsourced product we can”, but thankfully that doesn’t seem to have been the case.

Exactly.

Kuiu makes great stuff, but I am worried quality will be going down in the next couple of years. Change in management, non-hunters in the company focusing ideas to $$, and it becoming such a big name everyone wants, I foresee a diminish in quality. I hope Im wrong, but it’s happened to lots of companies before.

I've got two kuiu hats that are the Tiburon dot grid material (flexfit hydro grid), nothing wrong with either of them. None of my kuiu stuff has any real issues. The Velcro cuff closures on my Yukon jacket delaminated but it doesn't affect functionality. Other than that, I've never noticed so much as a missed stitch.

The only item I've ever sent back to a hunting clothing company was a casual hoody from First Lite. Any place a seam ended had threads hanging off, up to three inches long. The seam closures also appeared loose. There were also a few spots that showed abrasion. It was pretty shitty.

I love KUIU clothing. I wear the Sierra pants or Attack pants every day working/walking/hunting in the woods. One day recently I had the Sierras on when I ran into some barbed wire fencing. The wire made a 3-4” cut on my leg and bleeding but didn’t even make a scratch or tear at all on the pants.
