Well I tossed 70# in it.

I think I'm going with tall frame.
Tightened shoulder straps to the max and was running out of room.

Still not sure about belt.

I feel like the S/M will be better for me.

I kinda like have the hip pockets further forward for access...

I’ve been a 32” waist in pants for years and originally bought the small/med.
I sent it back for the large the minute I tried it on. the small/medium has shorter foam padding as well as webbing. I found the small/medium did not wrap around the hip bone very far and was just too short.
get the L/XL.

Very good to know. Thank you.

I loaded up my friends kuiu pack with 75# of weight and man did it squeak.

You have the squeaking issues with yours as well?

I'm apprehensive to buy kuiu for myself because squeaks drive me nuts.

I had a few squeaking issues but have since taped my frame and cleaned all the dirt/debris out of the frame pockets on the bag. Since then it has been basically quiet. IMO there will always be some very slight squeaks when your hiking as everything is moving around a bit especially with weigh.
As to your frame pictures I would definitely go with the tall frame. The shoulder straps look like they need to be adjusted a bit but I know it’s your friends pack. I would also recommend you get the L/XL belt. It looks good from your pics.

How old is it? Not long ago they added a slippery U shaped plastic cover over the rounded bottom edge of the frame. My older one squeaked until I taped it and the newer one with the plastic has never squeaked.

Friend bought it new about 2 months ago.

I haven’t noticed anything squeaking on mine.
I noticed some cookwear rattling a bit on my last hike so I’ll need to find a way to quiet that down but no squeaking on the pack.

So a little follow up.

My waist in Prana Zions is 33x32 and by middle of hunting season I'm a 32".

My torso is 19".

I got the X-Tall frame and it's great.
I got the S/M belt and it's too small.

The suspension is being returned by the L/XL.

The pad size of the S/M is probably approx 4 inches shorter in length vs the L/XL.

So for me, the S/M is a couple inches short and the L/XL is a couple inches long.
