Looking for opinions on Kuiu’s line of packs. Picked up a 7200 and looking to maybe get a smaller one for day trips, is it worth getting or because the 7200 compresses down so much is it not really worth it?

Thanks in advance.

It was worth it for me. I have the 7200, and that’s a backcountry bag to me. Not a day bag. I didn’t want to be dealing with a bag way too big for my daily hunting needs all the time, floppy bags and cinch straps and all that. So I added a 4000, it’s a great size for day hunts, maybe even just slightly oversized for that but not by much and it allows carrying meat internally versus only relying on the meat shelf because I’m running a really small bag.

Ah ok, didn’t think too much about a bunch about that side of it, I’ve seen they go from 1850 and up. Maybe I’ll look into the 3000ish range pack, thanks!

With a bag as big as the 7200 you'll want something smaller for a day hunts. 5500 you could cinch down and would work just fine.

I really like my 4000. Since I'm no he-man, I usually can get a few days out of it. I basically use the meat shelf and a dry bag for camp as I don't want to temp myself and try to pack out camp and meat at the same time. I'm sure my back doc would love to watch me try it since he could use a new sportscar.

Have had several. 5200, 4000, 3600, 1850 and recently the divide 1500.

3600 is my go to for non-backpack hunts hands down.

I use the 3600 for full day hunts and drop to the 1850 for typical whitetail morning and evening hunts. You wouldn't think it, but the 1850 really is quite a bit easier to hide while sitting and more nimble and sits tighter to my back for getting through brush more quietly.

I love my 1850, the size is perfect for day hunts for me, and the pocket layout is great (especially the latest generation when they made 2 vertical front pockets on the outside).

Unfortunately, it seems they have discontinued it.

I have the 7800, 2300 and 1850. I use the 7800 for backpacking, the 2300 for day hunts, and the 1850 for whitetail or just sight hiking. Love the size of the 7800 for backpacking and compresses down pretty well for day hunting once you drop camp. The 2300 is a good size for day hunts but wish I would have got the 3600 (sold out when I bought the 2300) as the 2300 seems to be slightly small for days I need to carry more clothes/gear. The 1850 is a great size for whitetail hunting if you have compressible extra layers or don't need much for layers. I will probably sell my 1850 as I run cold so likely going to be using the 2300 for whitetails to carry more layers internally to prevent snags and tears on the sticker bushes here.

I like the idea of the SG Sky Guide 7900 since they have the ability to cinch down into day mode around 4000 ci and eliminate the top lid. Seems like that would be the perfect one size fits all pack for a western hunter that I may look into further as my wife is showing more interest in western hunting with me.

I ran the 1850 for a year. Too small. Picked up a 5200 and it was about perfect. Good for day hunts and I could pack everything for a 3 day excursion inside it. I broke the frame and they sent me a new 6000 (which seems the same as the 5200). Really never had to mess with straps much. the newer pro packs are much better than the original. That said, i am thinking about picking up one of the 2000 or 3000 ci Venture divide day packs for next year.

Not to side rail the thread, but might consider selling my 1850 icon pro Verde bag only (or maybe with their old frame too). Although I don’t have PayPal anymore so no idea how.
