Kuiu owners, what pack did you go to next?

To follow up on this. I picked up a stone glacier X curve pack and used it for a few days this past week in Idaho. I ended up transitioning back to my Kuiu pack about halfway through the hunt just because it was overall more comfortable for me when not packing something out. I ended up passing on a lot of bucks and deciding to eat my tag so I haven’t compared to two when packing meat. My assumption would be the stone glacier would pack it better.

I had a Kuiu pack and after a few years the shoulder straps broke where it attached to the frame. They sent me a new harness. Then after shooting a deer 15 miles in the waist strap broke. Made for a miserable pack out. Told myself I was done with Kuiu packs. I now have a SG and I like it, but would probably get a K4 if I was buying again.

Does anyone have issues with the fit of a small/medium kuiu pack (divide 4500) and the k4 exo? I am 5’7” and thin and feel weight sometimes gets distributed unevenly and can be uncomfortable for longer multi day trips

I ruck 100 lbs/ 1.5 miles every other day in a Divide 3000 - S/M belt/suspension. I'm 160 lbs/ 5'-7", belt comfort is acceptable/ shoulder straps is where the fatigue occurs. I have yet to pack 75+ lbs in a pack and not notice some discomfort somewhere.

My hunting/ scouting packs are the Kuiu LT 4000/7000 with S/M belt and suspension and earlier in this forum string I mentioned shoulder pain was an issue. 2025 season I spent in a Kifaru Duplex Lite suspension w/ Gnargali bag, the belt and shoulder straps were comfortable but there's a weight increase that I don't care for.

If you haven't already, load those packs up heavy and ruck around at home. I spent 4 or 5 ruck trips w/ 75 lbs before I got last years Kifaru to fit perfectly.......... FYI - I'm debating going back to the Kuiu 7000 LT due to the Kifaru's weight and GIANT buckles. Just my opinion based on my body configuration and what I want out of a pack.

Dude… I’m not trying to call you on the carpet but rucking 100lbs for 1.5 miles every other day sounds pretty tough on the joints

The above is correct and important. Joint injuries increase substantially over 30 lb pack weight. If I wanted to lift more on a regular basis, I would go to a gym where it is better controlled. VA facilities are full of veterans who have trashed their backs by hauled g heavy loads. If you don't trash your joints, you can hunt more years. I personally try to keep my pack weight in the 10-15% of body weight except for short distances.

True story bud....... It started when I was breaking in/fitting my packs under a load (+-70 lbs), I realized it was possible at that point and worked it into my routine to make my multi day hunting pack (+-45 lbs) feel lighter. No doubt I gradually worked my way up to 100 lbs and its a ball buster for sure......... suprisingly at 54 my joints and back are solid.

Funny thing is last night I was half way home through the ruck and I thought "I should do the Cold Bow Challenge after my ruck with the pack on".................. then I thought fk that! Lol

Went from Kuiu to Kifaru and Oregon Pack Works. I love them all for there own uses. If I had to choose 1 it would be the Kuiu, but the others just carry weight better. The Kuiu is treated like a daypack with a load shelf for comfort and speed! The OPW is a sleep set up, carries weight better than the Kuiu. This is my late season elk go to. The Kifaru is stiff as hell, but carries weight like a champ. It is my dedicated Backcountry elk bag. I also keep it in the car so if we get something down I can swap my Kuiu out after the first load

There’s some tough dudes out there, one of them being Aaron Snyder. Even Aaron says 100-120lbs is a shit load of weight, that’s him referring to packing out that weight 5-10 times a year/season. And you’re saying you do that every other day?

Who are you? I feel like you should be well known in the backpack industry with rucking 100lbs, around 180 times a year

I've had the smaller Kuiu day packs, and currently running stone glacier, which I am a BIG fan of. It's simple and feels better on my hips when packing, however I'm a skinnier guy so take that with what it is worth.

100lbs of camp and meat 5-10 miles out of the backcountry is just a little bit different than 100lbs 1.5 miles around the house................. Geeeez bud, I'll pm you a pic of my pack on the scale if it will make you feel better. Lying isn't going to benefit me in any way, just giving some feedback based on what I experience with a certain pack "under load". How can we discuss pack durability and comfort based on anything but a loaded pack?

And to get back to your topic and Kuiu packs, you can let Arron Snyder know his Kifaru suspension is way more comfortable under a heavy load than any of the Kuiu suspensions I own....... that's a fact.
