Kuiu Mountain Star 2p or Big Agnes fly creek or copper spur??

I used a Fly Creek UL2 for early season elk. It was pretty tight quarters for me + gear. But it's extremely lightweight!

If you want a little more room (and headroom) at a lighter weight penalty consider the SS2 Tarptent.

They also offer a SideCar (nest) now so you can enclose the vestibules: Tarptent StratoSpire SideCar

I have had the BA CS UL2 for two years now and use it often. I live in Arizona and when you get back in the main issue is finding a flat place to set up camp. I'm 6'3 215lbs. This tent is perfect size for one and gear. If I'm archery hunting I put my bow in one vestibule, keep my boots and pack in the other. Then inside the tent I have a long/wide sleeping pad and your left with a roughly 12-16" wide strip along side your pad for messing with your gear. I can also sit up on 2.5 inch thick pad and have plenty of room. The one thing I wish BA would offer is some earthy tones for color. I hate feeling like beacon on the side of the mountain.

For 2017 they are making them in olive green. Your prayers were answered.

Thats the Storm Star and not the Mountain, am I right Luke? Have you used both? The Storm looks great for really nasty weather, but is 5 lbs. I wonder if anyone has used a current Mountain Star here in Alaska and can weigh in on it. The lighter weight of it would make it usable as a late season solo tent with room for another if needed.

I actually ended up purchasing the Mountain Star because I liked the attached rainfly set up and I also got it really cheap with some gift cards and coupon codes. I haven't got a chance to get out and use it yet but will soon for shed hunting and then scouting trips later this summer. I'm in Southeastern Washington so we can get some heavy rains and high winds at times.

Let us know what you think!

I went with the mountain star tent last year. I like how you could deploy the rainfly while keeping the inner tent dry. The tent breathes very well, lots of room for two guys to sleep and a place to keep your gear dry. I really like the tent so far.

Love my CS2 for myself and gear. No way I'd try to put a 2nd person inside it with me.

Didn't care for the FC 1 or FC 2. The single end entrance was a major pain for me. Always climbing over or moving gear in the vestibule when trying to get in or out. The design also allowed water to dump inside the tent when the door was opened all the way.

If I had any plans to put an extra person inside with me I'd grab the CS3 for sure.

Exactly what brown said. I love my copper spur UL2, but its just for me. Its pretty perfect for one guy. If i had 2 people i would definitely look at ul3.

I bought the kuiu mountain star 2p last year, and have nothing but great things to say about it. Absolutely no regrets. I spent 28 nights in it last season, between 3 seperate trips, and I was thoroughly impressed. All my time was spent in the high country, and it withstood high winds (gusts had to be around 80mph.... I literally had to cling to boulders a couple times just to keep my feet under me, as I was hiking along the ridge.), rain and snow. No fabric flapping in the wind to keep you up at night, rock solid, surprisingly spacious with plenty of room to be comfortable for up to 14 days. Solid tent, with the right balance of weight and space.

Hey OP, REI has their quarter dome on sale because they are slightly changing it and phasing out the current one, and its pretty much the same damn tent as the CS UL for less money.

Edit: Oops, you already got the Mountain Star. Sorry!

I really like the Mountain Star set up. I looked at every option from rei, big Agnes to floorless tipis and always went back to the Mountain Star. Just like the way it's setup with the rainfly attached.
