How's the fit on the Axis jacket (M)? Is it an overly snug athletic fit or is there ample room to wear base and mid layers underneath without feeling like a stuffed burrito? Thanks

It’s an athletic fit but has great stretch. One base layer, one mid layer, and then the axis jacket on top is form fitted, but doesn’t feel restricting. With a base and two mid layers, it definitely gets tight. Kuiu recommends going up a size if you intend to wear two midlayers.
