Never had this issue. But sometimes it helps to give it a wash!

Which shirts? All the newer ones are a merino poly blend, so they would be more apt to stink. The 185 and 285 were 100% merino

Never had this issue. But sometimes it helps to give it a wash!

I'd wash it, but all that does is stink up my whole basement!

Some had the issue, some didn't - the issue has been brought up a bunch over on their forum. I initially thought they were crazy until I pulled mine out of the bag (didn't wear it when I received it - saw it was what I ordered, threw it in a ziploc, and left it). Opened the bag and got a wif of something rank.

Seemed to be only after they switched to their new supplier - CS told me they thought it was something in the shipping process? I have two 185 tops - one from the original supplier and one from the new one. Original one is great - love the fit and I wear it regularly. The second one had to be returned and replaced, and even now it still smells like roadkill when wet. It's a shame - other than that, I love the shirt. They never once adressed the issue and kept on selling it...

Apparently they are coming out with a new Icon Pro too?

I had the same problem with a couple of them too and I sent them back and they replaced them for me, no charge. I would think that they would do the same for anyone.

Yeah they exchanged the first one for me. Started using the replacement in cold weather when I wasn't sweating so didn't notice the smell, until i used it turkey hunting last weekend and got it wet. At this point it's just become too much of a hassle to deal with shipping it back and exlpaining why I'd waited so long.

I had the same issue with the First Lite merino in camo. My black Llano is fine, but the camo ones stink to high heaven when they get wet. When I washed them the first time, I told my wife that the sewer was backing up and coming through the washing machine it smelled so bad. Then when I wore them in the rain I seriously thought there was an open sewer pipe nearby.......and realized it was the camo merino when wet. Not sure what the camo difference is but I never smell the black ones. I went ahead and ordered a couple SS KUIU tops.......we'll see how they do in the rain.

Gotcha, I'm still running all the Canadian stuff with no problems. Just ordered a ss shirt. Well see how it goes

Interesting to hear about the First Lite issue - i've got the chama qz in ASAT. haven't noticed any smell when i've washed it.

My daughters have a couple of the Chama's in ASAT. I'll have to check them out next time they're in the wash.

I picked up a few more merino shirts. Love them. I last for days without any smell in the high country. I think I smelled merino ishirt once when I washed it and hung to dry. So it was soaked. Can't say I've smelled anything since then. Yeah, wool can smell, but I haven't had any issues with Kuiu in general. First lite has been pretty good as well. Even if it did smell, it's a far cry from the smell that comes from synthetic fibers, which kicks in within an hour or so after putting it on. Just horrible, to the point of being distracting at times. I have a bin full of synthetics, under armor, cabelas, nano coatings, silver coatings, etc. They all stink. Some first hour, others first day, but wool takes a couple days. I assume everyone's body chemistry is different. So keep trying new items until you find what works for you.
