I want to get either the Kuiu Chugach or Yukon set. I will be replacing my Kuiu Guide jacket and Cabelas Space Rain gear with this set and will be using it as my primary shell over a super down hoody for rain and wind. I will be using it for Colorado archery elk. Noise and weight are both a factor. If any of you guys have used both and care to comment. Thanks

I've had both and prefer the yukon jacket. It is a lot more durable than the chugach. Saying that, one thing I don't like about it is the fact that they only used water resistant zippers. They leak only after a few hours in the rain and everything in the pockets gets soaked. The main vislon zipper does do a good job at keeping the rain out. I have not had that fail yet.

It can take a beating though and have ran it as my only outer layer for a year now, rain or shine, and other than stains there is not much sign of any wear. It would be the perfect jacket if they upgraded the zippers and offered it in a solid. I hate camo, but thats just my pet peeve

I would go with the chugach for Colorado. It's about perfect over the ST for blocking wind.

If u were hunting where Todd lives, then the Yukon would be my choice.

Ya what Aron said.
Yukon is too hot and heavy for archery season. You won't need more than the chugach that time of year. Rifle season i'd be yukoning it.

Aron will know your hunting area better than I.... So when I say it's less durable, I mean when used in an area with devils club, thick alder, and rocks. I am still using the chugach pants, but the only reason why is because I can't sell them because they are full of patched holes and I'm too cheap to toss them. I'll ride'em out until they completely fall apart.

On a side note, the exped mat repair kit works great at patching holes in the kuiu rain gear. They stretch and flexes with the material and don't peel off.

For Colorado, I would definitely pick the Chugach. The Yukon line would be way to heavy, IMO.

I went with the Yukon pants and Chugach jacket combo for Sheep/goats. For Moose, Elk, Deer I wear quiet wool.

I have both, and will use the Chugach for bow/early season hunting. I've been using the Yukon for spring bear hunting in the cacascades. It has been raining/snowing just about the whole time I've been out there with temps in the 30's, wearing the Yukon pants and jacket all day long over my base layer. The Chugach will come out when the weather gets nicer, and rain gear isn't needed to be worn all the time.
