I use those to compress the bottom of the bag. I think I follow how you're suggesting to do it. I watched a video on their website and I think the newer bags/frames have stuff that mine doesn't have, like those clip/buckle things. I've been using the spring clips with the wire holder for every attachment point. I bought mine in 2014. It seems to get this functionality I'd have to add stuff..

Is your frame/suspension from 2014 as well, or is that newer and just the bag is older?

Frame/suspension is 2014, Ultra 3000 bag is maybe a year older, maybe the same age.

It sounds like you have them hooked in the wrong location on the bag.
In this pic is the newest hip belt but it’s the same as yours. Instead of the male clips/strap I circled you have the spring clips.

Is that wrapped under your hip belt?

Nope it’s sewed in right there at the bottom.

It does not attach to the top. It attaches to the bottom of the bag on the backside closest to the frame and pulls the bag down to keep tension on it and the stays in the pocket at the top.

I took a pic of an extra bag I have. Circled are where you attach the clip/strap on each side and then snug them down with the top of the bag on the frame already.

FYI my Icon Pro 1850 and Ultra 3000 both have those loops but my 7200 doesn’t.

How do you guys compress the bottom part of the bag? You don’t probably?

The straps that pull down on the bag should have 2 clips on them. The clip in the middle of the strap hooks to your bag and pulls it down, the remainder of the strap wraps under the bag and the other clip will hook to the loops on the front of the bag to secure your load from the bottom.
