No smells that I can detect and it has never been washed. Still looks like new. I have worn it just a few times and it has ridden in my pack a few times. I can wash with scent free detergent before I ship if you like.

Do you think the sizing is true or does it run small or large?

I would say it is true to size for a soft shell. I am a 41” chest and it fits with room for a few layers underneath.
