I hoping someone can give us a good comparison of the two before they run out of stock again...

Of particular interest to me is where the knee pads will ride when standing with my short 30 inch inseam and will they be too low when I bend at the knees.

I don't know how they fall on all sizes but I have 34's and I am 6'1". The knee pads are centered on my knees.

Bottom of crotch seam to top of knee pad is 12.5".

I'm 5'7 and the knee pads sit slightly below my knee but you don't really care where they are when you're standing. When I bend down they ride up to where they belong. Hope that helps

Thanks y'all, evergreen what size waist do you wear? Do either of you have any input related to comparing them to attacks?

I'm not too impressed with the Alpine. Haven't decided if I am going to keep them yet. Not a fan of the knee pads. For me (5'11" with a 32" inseam) the pads on the 34" pants cover more shin than knee. I haven't worn them out, but the material doesn't seem like it would breathe as well as the Attack pants.

Waiting on a pair of Chinook pants to compare and decide which ones I want to go with, but might end up returning both.

If I was going to really use these pants hard in rough settings, I'd go with the Alpine. The knee pads aren't perfect, but then what is? I'm 6-0 and the pads are in good alignment when I kneel. I like the stretch factor and extra pockets on the Alpine pants. As far as fabric weight and warmth, probably a wash in my book. I also own Attacks and love them. For all-around hunting where you won't be absolutely abusing the fabric, Attacks are unbeatable and I will never be without them. I wore them 100% of the time on a recent bear hunt and they never gave me a moment of regret. Clear as mud...right? :D

I think everyone that complains about the knee pads doesn't understand that they are positioned low so that they end up in the right position when you kneel; they aren't supposed to be covering your knee when you are standing straight up; you aren't playing football in them. Don't have them yet myself but sounds like they will be low enough for someone my height which was my worry.

I sent the Alpine back and kept the Chinook pants. Liked the fabric better and they are quieter. Fit was about the same. I could do without the knee pads though.

Is the difference in warmth significant? I was thinking that I would get both for different temps; but may just be wasting money.

Its hard to say without actually testing them in the field. The Alpine is fabric just did not feel as good to me so I kept the Chinook, but I don't think that the pants are that significantly different that you would have a specific use for each. Could always buy them both and return what you don't need, like I did.

On another note, I did get a Peloton T. Really comfy out of the package and look forward to testing it out. I like the ultra merino, but it just stretches out too much after a few days on the mountain.

Just to throw my two cents in...if you are considering the attack, you should really look at the Tiburon. I've switched to the tiburons for all archery season (anything down to 40 degrees F and then heating up). Its really lightweight, super tough, doesn't get pulls like the attack in briars and thorny brush, and dries almost instantly. someone must make kneepads that could be sewn on.

I wear a 32 and I have not ha the Alpines long enough to give you a true comparison. Someone mentioned in another post somewhere about gaiters and the knee pads. I haven't tried my gaiters on yet with the alpines so I need to do that as it has me a little concerned now that the knee pads will get in the way.

My main concern is with the sizing on the Alpines. They run extremely large, as in a full size. I have a true 35.75 measured waist and the Attack and Tiburon pants in 36 fit perfectly. For comparison, the attack pants in a size 36 measure exactly 36.25 at the waist, so very true to size. The Alpine pants on the other hand, measure 38.25 for size 36, so over 2 inches larger than true.

Chalk it up to completely ridiculous Kuiu sizing. While very frustrating, my initial impression are very positive. The fit for the size 34 (with a 35.75 measured waist) is perfect, and the material seems lighter and somewhat stretchier than the attacks. Time will tell.

just picked up a pair of attacks on ebay. They have a good rep so I'm gonna give em a go. Thanks for all the input guys!
