I've been planning to get a pair of attacks but noticed the new alpine pants in the 2015 catalog. Does anyone have experience with the alpine pant? How do they compare with the attack? Do the knee pads work well, are they in the way at all?
Thanks!

I don't think any have shipped yet and I haven't seen any reviews by anyone with the "in". Looks like an attack pant with knee pads and different pockets.

I was wondering if that's what they were... attack with different pockets and knee pads. Interestingly the catalog states the alpines are just a little lighter.

I like the pocket design, and if they turn out to be actual attack pants just with light knee pads and better pocket layout, +1 for Kuiu. I have the Chinooks and they have been very good so far, holding up good to some pretty fair brush busting, hiking, crampons, whatever.

When I pre-ordered, I did so with the impression that they are going to be a bit lighter than Attacks. I'm also a big fan of the Chinooks. I actually prefer them to Attacks for the reasons jherald stated.

They are a bit lighter fabric, attack pants are 225g/m2 primeflex and alpine pants are 210g/m2 primeflex.

I don't know how much difference that amount would make. Curious to find out, I'll probably try them or chinooks when my attacks wear out.

I was able try on kuiu pants at the storefront in Duxon CA two weeks ago. The knee pads in the pants that retain a camo pattern over the pads are thin and I don't find them to interfere with movement. I'd like them an inch higher for my build which is 29.5 inch inseam (I'd have to hem kuiu pants). The pants with the dark showing knee pads have a more substantial thickness but are shaped well for walking without interfering ( ie: being too noticeable).

I pre-ordered some at the beginning of the year and looking forward to the shipping date. I like the attacks, but still prefer the lighter fabric of the Sitka Ascent pants. Hopefully these are a little improvement over the attack.

I have Chinook pants like them and bought the alpine for warmer weather. Wish Kuiu could figure out their inventory supply. Looks like Alpine are pushed out to late may now.

Saw the live show today introducing the new line. I'm really liking some of their goodies. Pelotin (SP?) looks pretty nice. The rain suit is too much dinero for me, but looks to compress down to a baseball size. Pretty sweet.
