I'm really undecided between these two packs. I like the modularity the the Kuiu Pro line offers ie, ability to switch between packs using the same frame and harness.

I haven't been able to find a good review that show all of the pockets, dividers, interior etc.

The MR pop-up 38 is also a very intriguing option to me. It appears to have less interior pockets and dividers but I do like the adjustable frame height. Comes in Subalpine which is a plus as I use Sitka camo primarily.

Pack will be used for summer scouting overnight car camping when frame is not needed as well as day trips out of base camp when meat packing may be an option.
Has to accommodate a spotter and tripod.
Water bladder will not be used as I prefer to use a nalgene or SmartWater bottle.
I do like organizer pockets vs. one big pocket but I do have pull bags I use as well.

I'm 5'9" 160lb ish with a 33-34" waist.

I'd appreciate any input or shared experience with either of these options if you have some to share. Also any suggestions I may not have even considered yet.

Are you planning to use this for hauling heavy loads?
I have the pop up 38 but have only tested it recently for hauling. I was not overly impressed as it felt like the weight was away from my back\frame. This was with 50#.
I'm a kuiu fan - they just fit my build the best of all I've tried. I have the ultra 4000 and 5500 and 2 frames. They haul heavier weight good FOR ME. I'm thinking my pop up will be for day trips or 1 night overnights at most when car camping.
I'll take the Kuiu's when backpacking in multidays or when I'm up in the air on exactly how I will hunt.

The pop up is designed well and has two zippered pockets on the lid that are great for multiple stash bags. I use the stash its for organizing as well. but there are no other organizer pockets within the design. The open flap storage pocket on the back is secured when the lid is buckled down but does not zip. It is perfect for clothing/gear you need easy access to but creates extra bill and weight pretty far off your back.

Hope some of this is useful in your decision. Good luck

Thanks for the reply.

This spring I strapped a Bear quarter to my non-framed Sitka Apex pack in addition to my normal load. Didn't take more than a 1/4mile to realize it was not meant to haul extra weight.

I have a Mtn.Goat and a friend's limited entry bull elk tag coming up and want to be able to pack boned meat, cape, etc. Thus my search for a framed pack.

I'd like to be able to haul 50lb in addition to the 15-20lb of crap I usually haul around.

Was in the same boat. Looked at both, talked with Mystery Ranch, read what I could find. Made the choice for the Kuiu 2300 Pro bag on the Ultra suspension. I liked the fit of the frame and the bag physical size for a day pack. Picked up a 3600 bag at a later Kuiu sale. Lots of features to like about the interchangeability of the Kuiu system. PM me your contact info and I'll take some pics of the pack set up.

Side note, just picked up a Mystery Ranch Sawtooth 45 at the Black Ovis sale. The MR packs seem nice, but I'm not sure if it will work for me. Nice part is it can be returned.

Good luck with your choice!
