Heading to Kodiak in a month for a DIY Sitka hunt. I currently own a Kuiu Icon Pro 1850 and 5200. This hunt will be based out of a camp so I will be "day hunting" not packing tents etc. I will be hunting with a partner as well who runs a Kuiu Icon Pro 3200. So my quandary is this...

Do I run the 1850 or the 5200? I'm afraid the 1850 is a little small and the 5200 is too big. I can take the lid off the 5200 for a little less bulk if needed. My concerns are meat hauling. The 5200 enables me to put meat inside the bag if necessary and the 1850 basically does not if fully loaded. If and when something is shot, we will need to pack it back to the beach to be picked up. There won't be any return trips...i.e. I will need to pack it all out unless I can drag it to the beach.

What are ya'lls thoughts? Do I just need to split the differences and get a 3200? Just run the 5200 and compress it down?

Thanks!

I have both the 1850 and the 5200. I use my 5200 as a day pack during hunting season. I just compress it as small as I need it to be. I like to ability to have a larger bag if needed. Some times I'll remove the lid and use it that way also. I only use my 1850 during spring turkey season and I use it a a fishing pack. In my opinion my 1850 is too for me personally to use while hunting.

I have both bags. 1850 stays home. The 5200 packs up so small really don't need them both. Ordered the 5200 bag almost immediately after my 1st hunt with the small one.

Thanks! That is what I was thinking when I ordered mine. Only time I've used the 1850 is on a trip to Disney...
