I grew up hunting West Texas Whitetails, and after being introduced to the Midwest whitetail wood's by luck (had a professor complain about deer on her farm) I was hooked. I was fortunate enough to be able to buy a resident tag in KS during college. In 2008 , my 1st year after college, I was forced to go the NR route. I was able to jump on after the draw and buy over the counter leftovers several years after college. With popularity of KS hunting growth more and more from media like YouTube, The Outdoor Channel, etc., I quickly learned that one day it will be a covenant tag. I have been a resident in KS now since 2014 (Go figure). My buddy back home has drawn a tag for the last 8 years up until last year. My brother who has always been able to grab a tag when he was able to hunt up here also didn't get a tag. I feel in the next few years it will take 2-4 years to get a tag like in Iowa.

2021 Non-Res was 29880 up 5640 from 2020. Per their website they had another record year with just about 30K in 2022. 70K resident maybe?

although one guy might have drawn muzzle loader. Any muzzy guys able to check? I am waiting on archery.

Don't quote me on it but I remember seeing something like 70,000 applicants. So maybe that's total R and NR. I know pandemic and stimulus checks had a huge impact as well.

Is anyone seeing mule deer results yet? I was under the impression that the mule deer upgrade was drawn after the initial draw, but having never drawn it before I’m curious how soon that info would appear in a user’s account. I drew the whitetail tag and definitely applied for the mulie upgrade, but there’s no indication either way about the upgrade in the user portal currently. Appreciate any insight.

This is what I'm seeing also...I haven't heard of anyone drawing a muledeer tag yet
