I currently have a medium Eddie Bauer down jacket and a large Kuiu Super Down hooded jacket. I'm generally a medium sized guy. Wear a 15.5-34 shirt, a 38 inch jacket, 5-10, 155. The Eddie Bauer fits well with room for base layer and fleece underneath, but it doesn't have a hood. The L Kuiu fits well, but the forearms are tight for a fleece underneath. It also doesn't have a lot of insulation. I'm looking for a warmer hooded puffy. I'm thinking the Kryptek Aquillo is a good option. Can anybody describe the fit? Is the hood nice? Overall thoughts?

I'm guessing but I think you'd probably be fine with the Medium. I have an XL and wish I had the L. I really like the hood as well, it adds a lot of warmth and can be snugged up pretty well. It's not an overly baggy hood either. I will say the DWR works really well. I accidentally had mine exposed on my pack while glassing during a 20 min downpour. Once I realized it I literally shook puddles off the puffy and no down was wet inside. It's obviously not a rain jacket but so many people worry about down getting wet and I think you have more leeway than most people realize. That said, I wouldn't hike around in this thing. Not only would you sweat it out but it's a lightweight puffy so the durability isn't made for use as an outer layer. For glassing or around camp I think it's awesome and under rated as far as hunting puffys go. It also stuffs into the front pockets and makes a nice little pillow with fleece on one side when stuffed that way.

Kryptek has them on sale for 25% off right now as well.

Yes sorry for the confusion, the inside of the pocket is fleece lined, the jacket is not.

the jacket is really warm. i wore mine in february sitting on snow totally still for a good 45 minutes and i was quite suprised how warm it kept me.

as for sizing, i wear a large tshirt and the large is perfect for me. not experience with Kuiu sizing.

I bought a 2xl and used it some. The hood seems loud inside when my whiskers brush against it, but fits well and is warm. I wore it under my Dalibor II and it worked ok. The only complaint I had is it's a little short for my torso length. It came just to belt level and I prefer a puffy that hangs a little lower to prevent drafts when leaned forward glassing. It's definitely shorter in length than the same size Dalibor II jacket from them.
