KRG Echo - Sporterish version of bravo for tikkas

i put the 6.5 PRC tikka and the echo together tonight. I opted to remove the barrel channel insert to mitigate the flex. UM leather cheek pad on the adjustable comb. I installed the KRG adjustable pad and all 3 spacers which ended up too much for me. I changed to 2 spacers and the recoil pad with 14.5” total LOP. I like it a lot for what it is. Scope will be installed over the weekend. A mini arca on here might be perfect for the frequent tripod shooters

Looks sharp. Is there much flex in the forend, say compared to a Tikka OEM?

Great question. I did a side by side with the echo and a 223 in factory stock. There is more flex in the echo, but more space around the barrel and with the removal of the barrel channel you don’t need to sand for a sporter barrel in my opinion

Thanks so much for the report.

Just recieved notification that the Echo I ordered will arrive tomorrow, so I'll soon have the chance to see for myself. I hate to add any more weight to it for the rig I intend to run it on (6.5 PRC); however, if need be, I'm not against adding a stiffening rod.

I take it that the barrel channel filler doesn't add much stiffness when installed? I wasn't planning to run one; figured it'd be less weight, offer more clearance around the barrel and have increased heat dissipation, but wouldn't mind putting it in if it helps.

I like the echo better than the bravo. Factory mags, a little lighter weight, and no weird gap between grip and trigger guard. That would always rub my middle finger in an annoying way on the bravo.

Downsides are more forend flex (not a deal breaker) and can’t easily invert the recoil pad.

Glad to read it.

We will be shooting it side by side factory stocks and RokStoks for comparisons. Will try to get Triggercam footage of all to show different, if any- in reticle movement.

Interesting that there is a gap into the the stock at the front of the cheekpiece-

Initial thoughts are it feels like a slightly slimmed down Bravo. The forend does have some flex to it, but at least with the T3 Lite barrel it can’t touch, and it is way less flexible than the MDT Fieldstock.

I bet the gap is related to trying to make it LA compatible as an after thought. It still had to be adjusted on mine to prevent contact.

Will y'all add the buttpad height adjust and spacers to make it a more even comparison?

I might be able to send you those parts from mine for the comparison if you don't already have them.

I agree that the front comb cut out looks a little strange. I heard that the most recent Bravos were coming the same way.

If it's going to adversely affect function via being a gathering point for pine needles and other detritus, I'll glue a thin piece of plastic under the comb or over the buttstock recesses.

To me, the comb would look better if it just stopped short instead of having a cut out area in the center; it's not like the little side projections remaining provide much utility. Looks like when I'm making an Echo ambidextrous I'll also be doing some work on the front comb area.

Probably not. One can modify a factory stock and make it correct. Beyond that, it adds weight to the Echo, which is already heavy.

Nice caliber choice to show recoil in the scope. I have to be squared up and tucked in to spot shots with 178s.
