I do a lot of birding and wildlife watching. And yes as I mentioned in the other thread, no hunting so far but am planning to go with some friends next year to get the experience firsthand…I read your other thread. You don’t really need a spotting scope if you’re just a meat hunter. Save the money and go get some meat.
Faced the same dilemma a while back - the used 883 or the new 88A? Since it has a smidge better optics and slightly more refined mechanics I went with the 88A, but the 883 will still hold its own with any spotter made. Additionally, since you mentioned this spotter will be playing double-duty = birding and hunting, I’d highly recommend Kowa. Having spent considerable time comparing I find Kowa colors to be more accurate than other top brands.
