Any hands on experience with this scope?

I have been shopping for a spotter and thus far I am in anguish over picking "the right one".

Planned use is specifically for a DIY backpack hunting trip in the Beartooths this year. It will also see general range use and scouting use here at home (Kansas). I am willing to spend some $$, but I tend to be value minded.

Been reading some good things about the KOWA, but I want to hear from real users.

At the top of the Optics page, you should read Sticky: REVIEW - Swarovski ATX85 vs. Kowa Prominar 884. This probably isn't the Kowa scope you are looking at, but it might give you some insight into the quality of Kowa Optics.

I have seen quite a few reviews of the big Kowa spotter, but the smaller ones don't seem to get as much press. I was just curious if there entire Prominar line stands up as well as the 884 with the fluorite glass.

I haven't actually spent enough time with that spotter to have a firm opinion.

Generally,

Kowa produces products that perform very highly, and don't take their "Prominar" branding lightly. Nothing available optically outperforms the Kowa 883/4 with the new WA eyepiece, IMO.

There was a member here that compared that scope to the Swarovski ATM 65HD, and preferred the Kowa. While that is one opinion, it speaks to the competitive nature of Kowa optics.
