Kodiak Road System Bear

Anyone ever hunt the road system on Kodiak for bear? Just curious on thoughts people who’ve done it may have.

Not sure if its a draw area or even legal to hunt here but while on the south road system last October, we saw this guy right off the road with Kodiak proper in the back ground, lol. Just trudging around without a care in the world.

the road system area is a registration tag I think you have to get in person. there was a record book bear kill down by passashack a few years back

Registration hunt pick up permit in person. Check for land ownership prior to hunting to avoid unwanted legal exposure. You can purchase permit to hunt native corp owned land which I would recommend.

Avoid the bears in people's yards.

Went for a walk/hike/hunt w my kids the other day and came across a bear less than 100 yd from the truck. Should have gotten a bear tag! I had a rifle, hoping to get a buck.

That’s always the best way to find game. Don’t get a tag, they’ll show up and smile for you.
