Many people have asked if the Kodiak Canvas Truck Tents are compatible with the BakFlip covers so today I decided to find out for myself. Not only can you erect the tent with the cover on...you can do it with the cover folded all the way up or (my personal preference) with one panel down to create a shelf for your iPad, to eat dinner, write...you name it. Very surprised the tent fit my smaller bed so nicely. You will need larger clamps than the stock KC clamps that come with the tent to allow for the cover's railing but that's only 40 bucks for four of them. Can't wait to get out, use this thing again and get pics of in the backcountry.

Everything stays locked and dry inside with the MX4...even dust can't enter! When I hunt I am often driving through areas densely overgrown with little clearance overhead so this allows me access to areas where higher profile vehicles cannot get through. The truck will be covered in Hillbilly pinstripes but who cares, they buff out (most of the time).

The pad fits like a glove and is very comfortable to sleep on. The BedRug provides insulation and makes the tent quite cozy.

I like my little shelf...plenty of room for a short chair too.

Got two windows with the last panel of the MX4 cover down.

This is how it looks with the MX4 folded all the way up. Covers one window but who cares? It works. Didn't expect it to be compatible.

Now you know.

Got a wild hair and decided to test the stability of the Kodiak Canvas truck tent on the road which is not advised by the manufacturer...you tell me, would you trust it while driving?

I’ve wondered if it would work with my BakFlip now I know, thanks.

I should mention that I loop the front strap of the tent around the forward corner of the bed instead of using that plastic clip. This way it cannot break or come undone. It slides through the back, goes under the bed and then up the side. Be sure the tent is very taught and evenly cinched down on both sides if you intend to drive with the tent erected.

This same tent was originally purchased for my red truck with a longer bed and you can read my review of it (from years ago) along with photos at http://www.kodiakcanvas.com/testimonials-1/ . It's the first truck tent review.

I also own a Kodiak Canvas 10X14 Flexbow and love it. This company truly stands behind their products.

How do you erect the tent with the cover on? I can’t figure out how the c clamps for the tent rails would work while the cover is installed.

I fold the tonnea all the way up to connect the tent's rail. You'll need larger C clamps than the tiny ones that come stock with the tent...as you can see in the pics. They're cheap...I went to Lowes (the blue clamps). Erect the tent in the usual manner and drape the tent over the tonneau cover while it's still folded all the way up. You can use the tent with the cover all the way up or drop it down to create a shelf. Again, see pics above. Easy peasy.
