Kodiak Canvas/Buddy Heater

I think it’s possible we have experienced different conditions.

I tarped mine with a blue tarp, steep, tire, slick.

Tons of juy outs

Tried to keep the heater at 50 and still almost had a collapsing problem after 3days in the backcountry.

A foot of wet snow.

Certainly possible.

Ive used the kodiak cabin tent for 15 years and the flexbow for a few years now and never had anything i couldnt just knock off.

Heavy wet snow could definitely cause issues with any setup.

I had a propane heater, just had to keep pounding the roof of the tent from the inside
Stayed plenty warm and dry

Definitely get the Big Buddy and run a hose on a bigger tank.

I run the 10x14 flexbow. I turn the heater off when going to sleep. My bag and clothes and body are warm enough by bedtime that I stay warm all night. I can lay in bed when I wake up and turn it back on in the morning without leaving the bag.

Agree. I ran the stove when we were awake. Buddy heater at night to avoid getting up. We had a boot dryer on a generator that was awesome too.

I bought their rain fly which pitches over the bar on top. Helps make a slope for the snow to fall off.

However I think i remember you selling one but didnt use? lol not saying to be a dick but it would have been worth trying

What I like about that fly is it keeps the roof of the tent dry/clear so helps the tent breath better. If it's wet or covered with snow it's more likely to have condensation issues I think.

Seems like the Buddy heater is the best option for me.
I’m not looking to deal with a battery and diesel.
And I think the Buddy heater will work the best for the temps and elevation I’m at.

The Nu Way looks interesting. But I noticed it states I’ve fishing shacks and deer blinds. Nothing about a living area.

My heated buddy would not stay lit in my enclosed trailer at 8000 feet last season.

It would work fine outside the enclosed trailer and in the tent but it would not stay lit inside the trailer. The low oxygen censor kept shutting the pilot down. We did have the top vent wide open to allow ventilation but it still wouldn’t work.

I’ll have me a diesel heater setup for sure this year if we take the enclosed trailer again.

That's super creepy. CO or low 02 either way it's creepy. About a year ago I read about three generations taken out by using a heater in an enclosed trailer, Grandpa, Father, and Son. CO got them.
