I’m picking up a used 10’x14’ Flexbow this week to use as a base camp. I’m curious if anyone has any tips/tricks or mods they would like to share. Pics of setups are always appreciated:).

They make a nice thick floor liner that is nice to have. They make a cover top accessory, like a rain fly, I have not used one, but if I planned a very wet weather hunt, I’d get one. I’ve have had both of mine, 10x10 & 10x14, in very heavy rain with no issues so far. Both were properly seasoned with water before the first use.

The vestibule is nice if you are setting up a camp in bad weather, I don't use mine on summer camping trips, only fall hunting trips. I did get longer stakes for the corners. The factory ones are good, but I use longer ones just in case.

One adjustment for me coming from a wall tent, the floor is 10x14 but the walls slope in. If you set up cots, the space goes fast. I got a set of Disc-O-Bed bunk bed XL cots. Makes it doable to use 4 cots in the 10x14.

I have that roof fly for my 10x14 whatever they call it. The benefit is that it keeps the snow/rain from plugging up the roof canvas so the tent can still breath. I've not used it in cold conditions yet but it worked well in rain. It does flap in 30mph winds though and ruined my sleep one night so I got up in my undies to pull it off.

This box will fit the 10x14, footprint, floor liner, vestibule, stakes, and Springbar StormFly like it was custom made for it. Gives you a nice secure, weatherproof storage option that’s easy to wheel around. Just don’t forget the poles.
Thanks for that. I actually have that exact tote but I want to say the bag of poles was too long for it? I'll revisit it and see, that would be nice to load it up in.

Practice setting it up, taking it down and rolling it up a couple times before you hit the great outdoors.

Rolling it up so it fits in your container was harder than learning to put it up as it's big and bulky.

I store and transport mine in this container, plus there's room for a tarp, 2 mats, stakes and hatchet. It will not hold the canvas bag with the poles so don't forget them.

You're going to love it. Mine has seen some gnarly weather from crazy summer thunderstorms with heavy winds and rain to snowy, single digit winters and it has held up perfectly and kept me warm and dry.

Good luck,

Eddie

P.S. Be mindful of the tent canvas when hammering in your stakes. Hitting a stake with the tent canvas in the way leads to a hole, albeit small, in the tent. Ask me how I know. 😢

I’ll take a picture of mine tomorrow when it’s light out. Been sleeping in it for over a week now and possibly thru next week if I don’t find the bull I’m looking for.
I use a Harbor freight painters tarp on the inside floor, easy to pull out and shake it off. Get some 3/8” lag bolts instead of the stakes they provide, put fender washers on them and use a battery impact drill. Way easier than pounding stakes.

Correct, the bag of poles is too long and won’t fit in the tote. I’ve been meaning to write “don’t forget the poles” on top of the tote as I almost left without them last time.

I have a 10x14 springbar and use a RV outdoor woven plastic rug to protect the inside floor of the tent. I just leave it in there when I roll it up and store it.

lol not a bad idea. I have a friend with a real nice Alaknak setup and he showed up to camp without the poles one trip. I think his had 5 separate bags for stuff.

I use moving pads (4 does it) to cover the floor in my KC 10x14. They work fairly well, but they are bulky.

Me thinks anything that does a decent job of covering the floor is going to be bulky.

I also put down a cheap HF tarp on the ground where I'll pitch my tent.
