Knight UL .45 Cal

I am looking at pulling the trigger on a knight UL .45 cal since they are on clearance. Just wanted to know if anyone would have reservation purchasing one given the state Knight ML is in of appearing to be shuttering. I am looking at getting the .45 and putting a williams peep sight on it! Thanks for any replies

I have one in .45 and one in .50. Really like both. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one - although even at $1000 plus all the add ons/taxes at check out - they’re damned expensive. The breech plugs are the weak point and need to be upgraded.

For certain purposes, they are the best thing that has ever been available. The Williams FP sights are great too, just have to notch the stock on the UL which isn't bad. As mentioned, upgrading the breech plug is worth doing, for BH209 especially.
I shoot swaged 275gr Arrowhead bullets out of mine at 2100 fps with 80 gr by mass of BH209. It's a hot load, but very accurate and effective. Wouldn't trade it for anything else in existence for backpack deer hunts.

The Woodman Arms G3 is one of my current favorites for backcountry hunting - similar price (maybe cheaper), 6.5 lbs, better design and smokeless-capable.

Ha are you worried about that load? You're probably not wrong, I've considered dropping it a bit.

I wouldn’t consider that a real hot load. That’s about 100 grV.

Do you have suggestions on what a good replacement breach plug is? I have done a little of the googling and there wasn't anything real obvious. I saw arrow head apparently makes some good ones but did not appear ot make one for knight?

I'm not sure if any of the original manufacturers of aftermarket plugs for them offers one anymore. Anybody with a lathe could probably copy the Lehigh one. Mine is a Lehigh and has worked extremely well.

I think bestill still does knight breech plugs but you’ve got to send him your barrel.
