Kimber’s don’t shoot for s**t?

I also have a kimber 30-06 mountain ascent and it shoots lights out. It will shoot 1/2 moa all day. Attached is five shot group at 200 this year.

I’ve owned five, still own four and they all shoot poorly too. I shoot three shot groups at a 100 off a bipod rested on the ground, no bench.

I don’t have any pics of my .243 or 7mm-08 groups but they shoot about the same.

I sometimes wonder if it’s guys shooting multiple rounds through them and getting the barrels really hot.

I had one and this was my experience. Also, I had the entry level plastic stock version and they are just so flimsy it's easy to get inconsistent if loading into tripod etc. I had to be mindful of time between shots, not loading bipod too much. Handloading helped. Will likely give Kimbers another shot, but I think those more expensive models would be worth the money as I found out they don't really offer ability to upgrade stock later for reasonable price.

Guys sure are getting excited about a single 2 or 3 shot group that’s nowhere near their bullseyes
And? You don't make scope adjustments off of every single shot. You shoot a group, verify the consistency, then adjust. You also don't know how many groups they've shot with that particular rifle. I guess you are the exception to this rule. Carry on.

My 7-08 Adirondacks are tack drivers with 140gr TSXs. Great little rifles for sure.

I purchased my first Kimber Montana back in 2004 and since then, I’ve been on a personal quest to find a Kimber that doesn’t shoot for shit, just like all the ones that I read about online. Now, 16 years and 9 Kimber light wt. rifles later, I just continue to strike out. Had my latest Kimber (I bought it about six or eight months ago), out to the range today and we’ll, it looks like my quest continues.
.308 Adirondack shooting 130gr. Factory Barnes TTSX ammo. 4 shot group at 100 yards (shot all within about a minute or 2), then took it out to 300 yards and fired two more rounds. Two rounds about 1 1/2” apart at 300 yards. This, coming from a rifle that’s sporting a 16” barrel and weighs just over 5 1/2 lbs. all up, as she goes into the field.

I’m getting kind of tired of reading about all the Kimber lightweight rifles that won’t shoot, because for the life of me, I can’t seem to find one.

I’ve been doing the same thing with Remington rifles. Haven’t had a bad one yet. Sometimes it’s best not to pay attention to the internet. Lol

I was scared away from kimber on my last purchase and ended up going with a fieldcraft because of all of the negative reviews and reported kimber roulette. For you guys that like them, what do you attribute all of the negative reviews to? Surely there isn't some kind of conspiracy out there to ruin their reputation. All of the home gunsmithing tweaks needed weren't just imagined.

I read all the poor reviews on Kimbers, but purchased an Adirondak in 6.5 Creed last year.
Excellent accuracy and wonderful to carry in the field.

I own two Classic Selects, one is a 270 and the other 300WM. Both shoot great, the only problem is the guy pulling the trigger. Consistent groups under an inch

I have a Montana 300 WM that is more accurate than me by a long shot. Awesome stock, threaded barrel, what's not to like?

This post isn't the norm. A much higher percentage of the poor experiences make their way onto websites like this whereas the thousands of positives experiences go unheard of because they're too busy killing things with their Kimbers.

Are all of you guys reloading or using factory ammo? If using factory ammo, anybody have good results with a .300 short mag?

Thanks

Haha. So guys adjusted to zero and shot a ton of groups that hit center, maintained the same level of precision, and they decided not to post all those pictures?
HAHA...I like my Kimbers just as much as the next guy having owned have a dozen of them and still own 3 currently. That said I was thinking the same thing. All these great groups but none one the POA. At least I rarely aim 2-3" off the desire aiming point on purpose.

That said, again I like my Kimbers, but I agree the irony what you posted isn't lost on me. :)

When I work up a load I take pictures of my target to put with the load info. When I quickly sight in a gun I don't take photos...I'm guessing that is similar to the others posting photos.

If the range is busy I have shot the same target when testing loads. Just dial the scope up or down. Allows you to maintain the same point of aim but the new group should be higher or lower.

Here's another data point for the discussionIMG_20200913_192948071.jpg

I shot this group off a bench and sand bag to check my zero after I fell in a boulder field and hit the rifle pretty good. I'm not saying this is a good or bad group, but I was able to hit an 8" gong center mass repeatedly from various prone and kneeling positions while shooting off my pack. Good enough for me...

When doing load dev (when i shoot the most groups by far) i like having POA a little off from POI so the bullet holes dont obscure the POA on the target for subsequent shots.
