I’ve been around a few Mark V’s with no experience with them. I do have a Kimber mountain rifle. Not the ascent but same action type and I’d suspect barrel.
I can say if you want the least amount of weight to carry around the Kimber is by far the best option. The gun almost feels dainty.
I’m a cult follower of the controlled feed actions for no reason other than the history associated with them. It feeds good but takes some time to master.
That about sums up the praise I have for the Kimber.
The gun shoots good for the first two shots then provides a flyer on the third. I blame the spaghetti noodle contour barrel on that.
The stock and trigger guard feel cheap and for the price of the rifle new I feel they could be higher quality. I would bet the stock has factored in on accuracy issues.
The rifle is chambered in 6.5 Creed and has yet to shoot factory ammo at even 1 MOA with me allowing it to cool between each shot.
On the bright side those new gen Kimber mountain ascents have appeared to have addressed my complaints with the stock.
