So, just to be clear, the rifle you have is a Subalpine and not a Mountain Ascent, as already stated by other folks. The link you posted is of a Mountain Ascent that is in the Subalpine camo pattern. The rifles are identical in many ways, but the MA has the Skeletonized bolt knob/handle, spiral fluted bolt, and it also states on the barrel "Mountain Ascent". I also think that the Subalpine came only with the thread protector and the muzzle break had to be purchased separately. If I remember right, the first Subalpine's also had more of a bull barrel, but that might not be correct. If anyone is interested here is the link
Damn good gun atta damn good priceMountain Ascent (Subalpine)
The Ultimate high country mountain rifle. Weight shaving standard features such as Carbon fiber reinforced stock, fluted barrel, spiral fluted bolt body & skeletonized bolt knob and extractor bring this lightweight champion in at a under 5 lbs. while still retaining Sub-MOA accuracy!www.kimberamerica.com
Definitely came with only a thread protector. I bought a factory muzzlebrake for it that is still in the bag. Talley rail, too.
I stand corrected... I should have looked at the photos closer. I didnt realize Kimber made a Subalpine model, that one slid completely under my radar... Learn something new every day.Close but no. The sub alpine is a Montana with a Sitka subalpine stock. Still a great gun but a mountain ascent has a fluted barrel, bolt, bolt handle and extractor.
Well I was wrong too, I thought the subalpine was just a montana with the camo stock, as it turns out, the subalpine had a fluted barrel and milled out extractor. Sort of a middle point between a montana and a mountain ascent. Cool gun, I wish I could buy it, it would compliment my mountain ascent 300WM well.I stand corrected... I purchased a new Kimber muzzlebrake and new Talley 20 moa picatinney rail. They are available for the total price of $1700.What base and brake?
