Kimber 8400 Stocks

I have mpi and pendelton stocks on my customized kimber 84M's and am very happy with them.
In the last couple years I've actually had good CS with Kimber in buying misc. parts.
The best route for the op is to just buy a used Montana with the desired action size, they come up from time to time at a good price.

Just throw it in a Remington short action stock. Elongate the action screw holes rearward a bit, add and bed pillars, cut a new recoil lug slot, and full length bed. Anyone halfway competent with composites and bedding can do it in a couple hours. Just need a drill and router. That gives the option for AICS too.
I'm waiting to see if the RS Lite is offered for Kimber before doing it myself, but it's not a terribly complicated project. Hardest part will be ensuring that the action sits at the correct depth to feed from the magazines.

This is what I'd do. It'll be the best stock for a Kimber.

Agreed, Outkast will make you one but only blind mag, great folks to work with.

I wouldn’t give MPI a cent. Long story short but Lisa wouldn’t make right on a stock blank that clearly had a twist in it. Save your money and go elsewhere

I reached out to H-S precision (they are making the stocks for the new mountain ascent) and though it is not listed you can still order the new style mountain ascent stock from them. You’ll just need a hinged floor plate.

Update on this. I FINALLY got through to Kimbers customer service (If you have to contact them, just keep relentlessly calling until someone picks up- they will never answer an email)
They want $1000 for a new subalpine stock (after they duratouch starts rubbing off)
Plus $100-200 to fit it to my gun, and I have to send them my gun to have them to fit it. Oh and I pay shipping both ways. They will not ship you just a stock.
ORRRR.....I sell it on gunbroker and buy a tikka T3 superlite.

Moral of the Story: When you buy a long gun from Kimber. You own it 100%. Don't count on warranty or replacing anything on the gun being easy if you need it. And aftermarket parts are basically nill.
