So the eco terrorist is a good choice?? Come on man!

If the question is “who is better for hunting, Pendley or Manning”, I’ll take the one that was instrumental in getting wolves delisted and has all of the major hunting organizations writing Congress to recommend her confirmation over the one that had hunting organizations working to have him removed and openly opined that federal public lands were unconstitutional and put extraction over habitat. I understand why people have a lot of negative feelings towards Manning but I’d have a real hard time being convinced that Pendley was better for hunting.

For the record I find don jr likable most of the time. I was real glad he had the hunting experience, passion, and input he did while the don was in office!

Your TDS is strong. Maybe dig a little deeper; he talks about his past and how he got into the outdoors from spending summers in Ukraine with his maternal grandfather.
That's pretty funny. Never heard of the TDS. But ya, summers in the Ukraine sound pretty hard knocks training for tweet thumbs.

While I admit to knowing very little about the BLM’s dealings under him, it doesn’t seem like I should care what he thinks.

EDIT: I mean it when I say I do not know. He could’ve been a great protector of public lands, fighting the good fight and all that. Regardless, I’ll default to judging her off of the more recent history. As far as I can tell, it’s a pretty damn good record for the last 20+ years.

Here is something that she did more recently, that kind of mirrors the allegations against Abbey...sort of a weird pattern...

This podcast, like Don Jr., is insufferable.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why we jump on any effing bandwagon we can when someone is an "advocate" courtesy of some cute coattails from their predecessor. 10 years ago, no one on this forum would have said Don Jr. represents us -- now he's somehow the posterchild and we're all supposed to ignore what he came from?

Where I come from, who you are is what you've done and this guy hasn't done shit to be an "advocate." Anyone, PLEASE, tell me what his personal trials and tribulations were? What midnight oil was he burning to hone his craft? Wait....what is his craft? I'm confused as to what Don Jr. is actually an expert on....other than bullshitting because he is pure genius at that. Real Estate? Nah, that's inherited. Politics? Same. What is Don Jr.'s calling that he's pursued for years?

Anyone?

So he's hunted as an adult. Right on, good for him. How does this suddenly make him qualified to speak on any decision that has any management implications? Fine, you want someone that shouts "Don't take my guns!" from a loud speaker? No qualifications necessary. But let's not pretend that this Don Jr. has any clue what legal, ecological, biological, or other implications could possibly be involved in Pebble, Proposition 114 in CO, or greenhouse gas emission standards.

And Don Jr. is the real deal? What? Don Jr. LITERALLY inherited a fortune in time and money and because he knows his arrow weight and momentum and can shoot a stick bow he's the real deal? Oh, sorry, and he goes on a sheep hunt a year which, of course, is mandatory to be a real deal.

The podcast was a waist of time and I'm pissed I ruined my chorizo tacos listening to it. How do you even ruin chorizo? I'll tell you, you hover over your phone for an hour and cuss the whole time while your wife says "I thought you loved kifaru" "THAT"S NOT THE POINT HONEY."

Rant over.

Post Script: Kifaru still makes a great pack because they are experts at pack building.
He has a louder voice than most, and he supports the things I like, and advocates for them… he didn’t choose what family he was born into, and it takes initiative to be as involved in the outdoors as he is… there are far more productive things he could be doing besides hunting, but he chooses to go on cool hunts and even hunts with a recurve…

despite his upbringing, he is very down to earth and relatable. Compromise comes in all forms, he has been on a much different path than most of us, but why hold that against him?

There are people I would much rather listen to on a podcast, but I think it’s cool Jr turned into what he has… very unlikely for most to live his life and have a real passion for hunting, and make time for it in his life.

it was a lot easier for me to be honest… growing up in a poor family, easy to chase stuff on the ocean, rivers, and woods to entertain myself… I’m guessing the Trump’s didn’t have issues with entertainment, they had the means to pay for any entertainment money can buy…. Seems like hunting would almost be an inconvenience… that says something to me, and he has a loud voice, which is beneficial to us.

Agreed.

Seems like a few people don’t value having friends in high places.

After listening to this I feel like opportunities were lost by not taking advantage of having the son of a sitting President being a actual hunter. Yeah he might not hunt exactly like most of us, but he ain’t far off.

If I was the head of any conservation/hunting org I would have been dying to get this guys ear. Even if it meant reaching across the table.

And for the the orgs and folks that are dead set on him being some ego maniac or a rich idiot. Then use your supposed superior intelligence, stroke that ego, and get stuff done.

Ehh, the whining part was a lot more directed at some earlier posters than you.

But again, not one person has suggested Biden is or will be good for hunters. No one is making a comparison between Biden and Trump, or Hunter and Jr. Sure has been a lot of deflection though.

Since you asked, I do think opting not to put a land transfer advocate in charge of the BLM is a clear step in the right direction for us mere mortals who can’t afford landowner tags every year.
Yeah, they transferred the heck outta land under the previous administration didn’t they? They didn’t increase access to federal wildlife preserves previously off limits to hunting. They didn’t enact hunting and fishing be a premiere use in federally managed land. But, most importantly, they didn’t talk about habitat loss, while nominating huge expanses of public land into national monuments. Nor, did they talk about climate change and the environment being destroyed due to population growth, while working with liberal governors and elected congress to build huge solar fields on public land. Those bad boys are not only an eye sore. They are an environmental disaster. From the production to the installation.

You public land, BHA cronies are so one sided and blinded by your politics, you are incapable of having one decent conversation about any president that doesn’t have a D behind his name. It blows my mind. Sheeple being fed lies and s are tactics to win votes in the ballot box. How stupid can people be? Evidently pretty dumb from the exploits regularly seen on this site.

Biden, along with the general anti-fracking sentiment and capital sources have essentially aided OPEC+ in killing US shale, which allows them to withhold available production, driving up prices without fear of US shale poaching market share. Realistically, OPEC+ kept prices just low enough to scare capital out of shale until an administration unfriendly to shale was in power in the US. So, in a way, Biden may not be completely to blame for oil prices, but he's not helping with his anti-shale position. I definitely wouldn't expect people to understand this and wouldn't be smug towards those that don't.

Do you have any links or sources to this? I’m not denying it’s true but what specific actions has Biden taken to actually aid OPEC in killing US Shale?

WRT oilfield actions Biden main executive action in Jan was to halt all new oil and gas leases on public land.

What slowed US shale was the past 5 years
1) flooding of the oil reserves world wide.
2) High cost to produce a barrel 36$ in USA, 12$ in KSA.
3) KSA willing and able to outlast any oil price cycle of decline and rise.
4) KSAs plan to grab a large market share when the price went low.
5) Aramcos willingness to try and go public to raise funds.

It all went to hell before Biden was in office so anyone using metrics and data could easily blame the prior President.

It’s standard operating procedure with this group.
Don’t disagree, but the “politics are okay, as long as they’re mine” policy is pretty standard across the board. I have friends that left Facebook because “too much politics,” but they make nearly every conversation political.

Maybe I missed it, but Can you quote one person in this thread that said Hunter Biden is a saint? Or is that just some dipshit thing you say when someone doesn’t like Trump Jr?

Dipshit?

You can dislike him and still see the positive influence(for hunters and shooters) he had on a President. A President that had never hunted a day in his life.

If your hate for a man is so strong you would call someone a Dipshit for pointing out that he did infact do a lot for us, especially in comparison to the one that is now in a similar advisory role, you probably got so things that need to be addressed with a professional.

So far all the hate is highlighted around he gets to hunt way to much and his income tax bracket isnt perceived to be his own.

I never know Rokslide was segregated according to income.

People have such short memories.

Not a fan of Trump's promotion or at least willingness to go along with big spending, but to liken his admin's overall pragmatism and America first policies to the current admin is laughable.

And anything that he was able to effect positively was usually some kind of "work around" due to the usual career rhinos, dems, and bureaucrats/deep state.
