Really wanted to pull the trigger on Kuiu pack, but this thread and others convinced me not to. Ended up with the Exo K4. Should be here on Wednesday.

Ive never had a Kifaru or an EXO so maybe Im missing out but I do own 2 KUIU packs and I personally have had zero issues and i had quite a few different packs before that. I have the Pro 2300 and the LT4000. Their compatibility is great with the options they have that go on the same frame/harness. I thought Mystery Ranch was bombproof but very heavy. Alps was way too heavy also. It probably all depends on how much your going to use it and for what purpose. somewhat like boots, and everybody is different and its hard to get a really good feel for it until you put it to use.

I have had a couple Kuiu packs with carbon frames and they were fine with light loads but when you got up to 50lbs they sucked. Exo K4 are great but my favorite frame is the Kifaru tactical, I have 3 of them. Yesterday I went shed hunting with my 22” tactical and nomad bag with 30lbs in it. I hiked 8 miles up and down the mountains in SW Montana, pack felt awesome and that was my first trip with it. I have hunted that section with many a pack. But it’s all personal preference.

I bought my KUIU for no other reason than it was on sale. That said, it fits my body well and holds loads great.

I've come to understand the "fitting your body" is probably the most important aspect of pack selection and you can't necessarily strap 80lbs onto a frame in a store or at an expo. At least it's frowned upon if you do.

I have a Kuiu pack with a LT4000 bag and I find it very comfortable. I do run lighter weight around 35 lbs and have not ran a heavy load on it. I have not used any other packs.

All my Kuiu gear I have ever used has been really solid. I will only buy when it’s on sale but I have no complaints with their quality.

If I was in the market for a top-tier pack it's Kifaru, Stone Glacier, Exo for me. Everyone has different preferences, Kifaru works the best for me so far, but for packs those 3 are in a different league. (Maybe Seek Outside too? Not sure about them and haven't used them but they make great shelters.)

I have some Kuiu clothing that I really like, but packs are more mass-market.

I’m looking at a Kifaru Tactical frame pack or a Kuiu frame pack. Anyone have experience with them and how they perform? Probably 50 pound max loads.

The tactical frame as mentioned it probably a bit overkill for 50lb max loads, but honestly you never know when your needs might change. My Kifaru tactical frame is the only high end pack i've ever owned but i've never felt like it's been a disadvantage with lighter loads. I do some archery fitness comps every year and with pack weights from 30-80lbs and i still find it super comfortable across the board. That said, I have quite a few buddies with Exo packs and they love them as well. I'd steer clear of Kuiu in the pack department.

The EXO k4 system is the most dialed in of everything I’ve had (kifaru tactical and duplex, EXO k3 and k4, stone glacier 5900). It strikes the balance of daypack comfort with serious load hauling comfort, and the Nalgene hip belt attachment is the most well executed part of any pack I’ve ever owned. I know a water bottle pocket sounds silly to call a game changer, but it really is.

For 3-4 days you’re probably fine with the 3600. The 5000 would work too.

I feel the same way about the Nalgene holder. Both the part about it being awesome and feeling a little silly saying it!
