I just received my 20 degree center zip. Great bag, good quality, but I'm having a hell of a time getting comfortable with the Velcro down the center of the bag. It seems like it scrapes against me no matter what position I'm in. I know I can wear thermals, and it will be reduced, but sometimes I don't want to wear thermals. Does any have an issue with this? Is it just me? I can't find any other threads that talk about this. Does anyone know if I can have the Velcros just removed? They don't seem like they do a whole lot? Thanks.

The large tube on the left side is supposes to velcro to the strips on the right side, so if they are scratching you than they are not (the velcro) attaching.

The tube is what will block the wind and/or heat from entering or escaping the bag through the zipper, so it's something that's needed to get the full warmth out of the bag.

Feel free to call me if you have any questions.

I had the same issues this weekend trying to sleep in a 20* bag when the low was in the 40s. I was just in basketball shorts and no shirt. The bag is true to temp!

I was constantly opening and closing the bag throughout the night to cool off but trying to realign the Velcro was a little bit of a pain.

The next night I just slept with a shirt and left it unzipped all night.

It didn't bother me but I noticed it too. I was wondering if the velcro would be better off in a round shape instead of rectangle, in case the sharp corners were part of the problem? And I wondered if the tube was actually necessary vs. having a flatter, wider, but same-weight flap that would better cover the velcro? But I love the bag.

I recently took my center zip to the chugatch in Alaska. I noticed the center velcro. Just took some getting used to for me. Bag worked great though.

Try rolling the bag to the left side so it's more of a side zip. I'm doing this with my center zip and it fixed this problem.

Wouldn't that just off set the insulation? I thought I heard Aron say that the top has more insulation than bottom?

It hasn't been that cold to tell you. The bag is warm, I sleep with it halfway zipped most nights.
