@Bender, will we be able to use this bag without a frame, maybe use just shoulder straps? For predator hunting, I'm not interested in a frame pack.

Thanks

Jacob, right now it is only set up to run with the frame. That might change if we see enough demand in the market for an internal framed version but it's too soon to tell.

How many of you guys would like to see an internal frame offering?

Thanks Bender. I think a frameless would be fantastic for light predator hunting. I just need room for my weapon, coyote call, and a bottle of water and some snacks. I curious what others think also. I know another company makes one, but I prefer made in USA by far.

An internal frame pack with an elastic Hellbender style pocket for the call and a large side pocket for easy in/out of a tripod would be about perfect.

I liked my Eberlestock scabbard pack for hiking in a heavy varmint rifle to shoot prairie dogs.
Exactly. Love my Gunslinger for this purpose (coyotes in my case). Looking for a new multi day type backpack and this is a consideration. Leaning towards a used K2/3 or Metcalf but after seeing the rifle carriers I am not so sure. Yeah, you just can't whip out your rifle from a Eberlestock but it is sooo easy to carry. This may solve that issue (not so sure about the 4+ pounds though).

I purchased a scabbard along with the ark frame and used it for deer and elk hunting this year in Wyoming. It took some fitting but I really liked it and made trekking around a 15lb rifle much more manageable. Previously I used an Eberlestock Gunslinger 2 which worked okay but I have a slender frame and the hip belt was uncomfortable with heavier loads. The padded hip belt by Eberlestock wasn't going to fit so I had to pivot.

What is better about the Kifaru is that the hard shell around the scabbard really protects the rifle. It gave me peace of mind when setting down my pack that nothing was going to happen to my optic. Two things I didn't like about it:
- My bubble level kept getting snagged when taking the rifle out. of the scabbard. This would have been horrible if I was actually on an elk at the time but thankfully I figured this out early on. Just be aware there is more to snag on compared to the Eberlestock.
- I really like how the Eberlestock comes with a cover. When I was up in the mountains it snowed and there was nothing protecting the scope or butt of the rifle from collecting snow. It would be nice to have a cover that can be easily attached for crummy weather and then removed when it's clear.

Overall I would definitely buy this again. The ark frame defiantly had to break in but after a couple days of hiking up mountains it felt great. I didn't really notice I had a pack on let alone a 15lb weight on my back. I used the load sling to carry my day pack but next year I am going to pair the scabbard with either the Hellbender or Stryker XL.

Don't hesitate to buy if you're considering it. Eberlestock was great for PRS matches but this is perfect for tough hunting and NRL Hunter matches.

That depends on which pack you attach. If you use the Hellbender (designed for a 3 day pack trip) attached to the back of the scabbard you definitely could do some overnights. If you mean what all can fit into the scabbard, I don't know the liters but its incredibly roomy. I fit my PRS set up with ease.
