Yes we normally knuckle them when it matters. Time was more important in this case. It was only 1000 vertical feet and 2 miles to the road. Then we headed back up and over to the truck with the second load and drove back around to the first.

I do it when it’s under 2 miles or so. My dogs love them. Sometimes I cut them off and still pack them out.

We knew. Distance and circumstance lead to not bothering with it… open sage and down hill.
