Kifaru Reckoning

Would the reckoning be best suited for 4/5 day trips and as a day pack? Or would there be another pack someone would say fits the bill better?

Reckoning is more of a do-everything pack but not specialized in any one area. It’s great as a 3-6 day bivy pack and good as a day pack. It’s also capable for a 7+ day hunt with a dialed pack list. And its so freeking tough I never feel like Im going to damage it. Gun to the head I have to sell off all my packs and keep one, Reckoning without a doubt.

Scroll up to post number 12 in this thread is a photo of mine in day mode. 3 to 6 day hunts I do not use a lid or any attached belt pouches. With food and water I’m typically around 36 pounds. For extended hunts, I will use the Guide lid and maybe a couple of belt pouches around the bottom. This pack can be very Spartan if you don’t attach all the extra accessories to it.
Of course you can go expedition style and the attachments are endless.

Thanks to this forum, I got the Reckoning and I am glad I did. Its simple enough with quick full length access, but can get modules added if needed or packed down to day mode. At first I was not a fan of the open top side pockets, but they actually work well. Only think i would like is access to the bottom of the side pockets from the side, but that can be a quick modification, so that the base of the side pocket could be treated as a Nalgene bottle holder, etc. and the upper would be more a sleeve, since the pocket is not waterproof I think that would add a bit more versatility, without compromising anything.
