I am upgrading to a new Kifaru pack system. My last pack system was from 03 and was a long hunter. Love the frame and suspension, but from what I read, I can't use the newer bags like the Nomad in particular. Now I'm looking at the new hunting duplex frame, but am still undecided on what size belt. I have a 33/34" waist and am debating on the small or medium belt. Seems like my size is on the line between them. Also, I am 5'11 and 180 (on avg) and am still undecided on which stays. 24" is what I'm leaning towards. I wear 34" inseam jeans. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm about your size and went with a small belt and 26" stays. I previously had 24" stays on a prior duplex but prefer the 26" stays now that I've run it some. I like it with the tall bag when the EMR2 is loaded up. I read recently that they will make a "smarge" belt, custom size between small and medium if you call them. You should give them a buzz they can fix you up with what will be best. Let us know what you end up with!

Pretty sure all their packs are backwards compatible.

I read somewhere that they'll make in between sizes on request for belts.

I'm 5'11" and Aron recommended the 26" stays for me, though I had no problem with my previous 24 but never had more than 70# on it either.

Thanks for the replies. I will call Monday. Just wanted tonourchase the high camp bag and nomad during tgis Fathers Day deal. Do the 26" stays interfere with packing a rifle over the shoulder? That's my biggest concern. What would be any other disadvantages to the 26"s? Thanks

I am same height and inseam as you and 20# heavier, waist is on the big size of 34, I have the medium belt and have a lot of excess strap when I cinch down. I imagine either size would work but TALK to Kifaru and get their advice, they actually know this stuff hands down. I run 26" and I personally could see no reason to run shorter, had no problems with pack interference, but I'm far from the most experienced here!
