Kifaru Pack

I've been eyeing up a Kifaru pack for my elk trip this fall... Question is:. Can I justify the investment for one or two backpacking trips a year?

Buy used, sell used. They don't really lose their value once they're used. You can usually find the frames for around $300 used. That'll save you about $100 if you buy new, when you figure shipping costs. Use it for a year, sell it for $300. All you'll lose is the shipping when you go to sell it.

Thanks, I've been searching for used online but it seems that used frames are pretty difficult to find. Is Rokslide classifieds the best place to watch for used packs?

I use mine all the time weather I’m hunting out west or not. Hauling tree stands, Icefishing load it up with traps, shelter and auger, camping and a bunch of other stuff. Just because it’s a meat hauling pack doesn’t mean you can only use it for that.

You could also post up a WTB thread with your desired setup. Some members have stuff sitting around that they would sell but don’t mind it sitting around their basement/man room either.

Buy it. You find all kinds of uses for it once you get it. Trapping, tree stand carrying, hiking, camping, and most importantly, hunting. I felt the same way and gave since bought three Kifaru’s and a host of bags.

Absolutely buy one. It’ll make you 1-2 trips a year a lot more comfortable, and you’ll probably never have to buy another pack.

I scanned used for a while...and bought a T2 used a few years back, under half price of new and could probably sell for same price I paid today...although it's probably the last pack I'll ever need. It pays for itself when you are loaded down with meat and skull! I've also used it for family backpacking trips which means it's stuffed way past capacity when only 2 of the 4 kids can carry their own gear

Go for it! I do agree the risk is small in that you could recover most of the cost reselling if you change your mind.

There's a bag. That'll save you about $50-70 depending on shipping.

I'd buy a new frame that is setup for your size. Seems like guys sell the bags a lot and you could grab one used if money is tight. Great having gear that is made in the USA and the guys at Kifaru stand behind their stuff. Can't go wrong with them.

It’s a freighter of a frame system. It’ll handle a lot more weight than you can, and the adaptability of the system alone is worth the investment IMHO
