I'm trying to decide on which meat bag to purchase right now. I want the generation 2 bag because of how it situated on the pack but I'm drawn towards the 1oz meat Baggie or the 2.7oz quarter bag because of weight. What are some of your experiences with these or opinions?

I put all my day/hunt gear in a nylon bag, inside the genII, to get it up high in the pack for day hunts. After the kill, gear bag drops out and meat goes in. That's the plan anyway.

I'm interested in the meat bag too. I'm trying to get an idea of space and weight savings over my Alaskan bags.

I would prefer the gen 2 as well, basically made a crude version out of the meat baggies a couple years ago.

Care to share your method on this?

I've been thinking about a way to hang the meat baggies but haven't put it all together yet!!

I know it is more expensive and no one talks about it but I really like my gen1 hanging meat bag and it is less the 5oz and Aron said it is a tad bigger then the gen2 bag. So if weight is a concern this is a good option. It compresses down to nothing.

After going back and forth, I decided on going with the meat baggie. It's hard to beat one oz. I'll use it to carry my food in, use it as a pillow by stuffing it and then carrying meat out with it.

It basically consisted of sewing the baggie to a shorter length and then sewing straps with tabs on the end around the entire thing to allow it to be hung from the little tabs inside the pack.....very crude as my sewing skills are beyond horrible, but it worked ok. The Gen 2 is a much more refined product for sure.

I have the meat baggie but haven't used it yet. (just got it this winter)
I'm planning on also getting the BOMB bags. I think the Kifaru T1 holds the meat just fine without having to "hang" it.
If I was using just a frame, I would probably use the hanging meat bag.

This is my T1 with 130 lbs of elk meat in it from last year. The meat was just in a game bag.

c'mon guys, my ol lady just did 110 with a busted waist belt 1.5miles

True, but we aren't as tough as her....plus I'd MUCH rather pack 150 pounds than make my wife pack anything in the triple digits....granted 1.5 miles isn't so bad though.....
