A while back I did a review on the Hoodlum bag and it’s right up there with some of my favorite configurations. Just got the new Gen2 Hoodlum and was able to get it in the field for a bear hunt last week.

Fit my layers, one quarter, backstraps and a full hide inside the bag! I added a claymore pocket to act as some lid storage and put a Sherman pocket on as extra organization but mainly as a way to strap my Cross on and keep it protected.

Overall layout is similar with zippered side pockets. The main upgrade that I love is the full length zipper running down the bag. Previously the Gen 1 had an access zipper that stopped about the height of the frame. Great for gear access but that’s it, now with the full length you can open the bag up making it easier to pack and way easier to put meat in.

Shoot me any questions, I’ll get a video up soon. And I’ll be doing a podcast with Sam soon.

Great feedback. The zipper was also key for me getting the Reckoning. Congrats on the bear!

Anybody using one on a duplex frame ? Curious about the bag to frame connection and if there’s a good way to keep the bag from sliding off the top of the frame sheet since the straps that attach to the load lifters don’t fit through a slot on this bag.

Did I miss Kifaru announcing this? I dont see it on their website or socials. Their best bag with a long overdue update.

Pretty sure it has a frame sleeve like the other big bags, so no reason for it to slide off.

Jordan talks about it in the podcast

I am. The straps that are between the frame and bag, on the bag side, about midway down thread through the plastic d ring type clips at the bottom of the duplex and tighten down.

Anyone have any comparisons between this and the Absaroka? Had the original hoodlum and didn't like not having a full zipper.

Set this bag up with a guide lid and a spotter pocket for a few test runs on short scouting trips. Definitely a fan of the big side pockets and full length zipper and a ton of room left after a pretty light overnight loadout was packed. IMG_4229.jpeg
