IS the only difference between the Hunter & Ultralight the composite stays.? In other words if I get the Hunter frame w/composite stays then swap them out w/arrows do I have now have an Ultrlight frame? if not what are the difference's? I'm sure there is something I'm missing but I cant see any on the Kifaru site. Thanks for the help.

Thanks, Next ? If you have a frame w/24 inch stays and then want to go to 22 or 26, can you just swap them out, or is the 24 frame always a 24 frame?

I'll give Kifaru a call next week-but I'll ask here first. I'm 5ft 4inches 130# and have 28in inseam (1 inch form floor). The 22" frame should work for pretty much all I can or want to do. The 24 would give more lift for heavier loads but realistically I'm not packing over 75 or 80#s and only then when i have to.

Just my opinion but if i was ever planning on carrying more than 50 lbs i would get the 24" stays at your height.

But just to confirm, if you swap out the cf stays for composite, you essiently have gone from a duplex to the uktralight??

That's correct. The big difference in the frames is that the tactical fram has a thicker frame sheet. The ultralight and Hunter frame are the same frames aside from the stays, and you can switch those stays yourself.

I'm 5'4" and asked the same thing about frame sizes recently. Everyone steered me toward the 24" frame and that's what I went with. Glad I did. It's not to big.

The frame is the "Duplex" component that can use whichever stays you want.

Aluminum stay= Heaviest option & curved to fit flat or normal back.
Composite(carbon and wood laminate)= Light & curved to fit flat or normal back.
Carbon arrow shaft = Ultra light & makes the duplex frame very flat.

Stays can be interchanged in the same frame to suit different needs. Ill run arrows when scouting or doing summer BP trips and then switch to aluminum or composite during hunting season.

I originally purchased my new frame with the carbon arrows. Carried nice but had close to zero control of barrelling. I purchased a set of aluminum stays from past experiences. 1000000% better frame. Stiffens frame sheet up plus can be PERFECTLY MOLDED TO MY BODY.

The rigidity provided by the frame sheet controls barreling, not the stays.

When the frame sheet is flat (arrow stays) I bet it can barrel easier. When curved stays are added to it this would make the frame sheet much harder to barrel. Just a guess on my part.

Not completely the case what so ever. Having the wide aluminum stays compared to thin arrows makes a big difference in barreling. Obviously the 1/8" tactical is far more rigid. That is a no brainer. But for those wondering. The aluminum and the UL composite stays WILL stiffen up the frame compared to arrows.

Go with the 24" frame. The new hunter frame allows you to easily adjust the load lifters from 22" to 24". If you get the 22" frame you're stuck with it.

Definitely go 26" . It is well above shoulders. Head does hit if you bend it back and try and look up. But I have found that to be the case with every brand pack I havee tried. If you have no intention of heavy loads. You could get away with 24. More compact with a little lift.
